It all depends on if it will be used or not. Being able to read peoples emotion and stuff and use it to increase or decrease tension and/or difficulty would be awesome. But if no one uses it in any good way, then it is wasteful.
About the price point, for those of us that have jobs and earns money, 100 might not be the end of the world. But parents who buy it for their kids it becomes a lot. Add that you also must add a game or two and you are talking 550 rather than 499. Compared to ps4 ($450) and wii u ($350) it might seem expensive.
And compare this to an ipad or android (which both are more versatile devices) and it spells some trouble. I bought my daughter an $100 android tablet and it gets used a lot and frees up the tv for the rest of the family.
@szchifo they did. The cloud is just servers on the internet. It is just a marketing term. So every internet service is the cloud. Multiplayer for example is a prime example. But almost no one would call it a cloud service because it came before the marketing term.
Talking about power in this way is useless. Which one is most powerful a ferrari or a truck? Which one would you rather own? The answer lies in which way you want to use the car.
Also the cloud thing will not help with graphics since graphics are very sensitive to latency. What it can help with is more static things, like map generation and ai. If they offload the ai to a server and it is self learning, things could be very interesting.
The big problem is that ms has a gaming console that is more expensive, more restricted and less powerful than their closest competitor. Add the fact that hdmi-cec (which their tv-switching depends on) is sadly not that well implemented.
When we are talking about online restrictions, we had thunderstorms this weekend that killed internet for the entire city. Granted, it was up in 12 hours but could still be a problem. And this isn't even taking into consideration people with summer homes w/o internet.
Btw, they could have had a system that doesn't phone home every 24 hour and still tie it to a specific console/account.
Yes, they are in a pickle now, and we will probably see some sort of rectifying during the year, but it is clearly an uphill battle.
I would be very surprised if they don't include the ability to download and run metro (win 8 specific) apps on xone. Ms has made a real effort to try and unite the different formats, why should they not include this functionality on xone?
I would like even more info about the phone home drm. For example, what will they do when the box goes eol, will we loose the ability to play games we bought, or will they patch the console?
About the kinect, will they store things outside the console or is everything local? If they send things to the internet, will they anonymise the data or will it be connected with our live account?
Of course both xone and ps4 will sell out at launch. If you haven't noticed, most high-profile gadgets does this. It has become a marketing ploy. For example, ms surface is a flop, but it still managed to sell out at launch.

Re: Yes, You Can Plug Your Xbox 360 Into Your Xbox One
But then you won't be able to plugin a receiver and miss out on the tv functionality.
Re: Editor's Opinion: Fighting Reality
So we pay $100 extra for Kinnect? So if people are not interested in Kinnect games, you recommend them to buy ps4?
Re: Editor's Opinion: Fighting Reality
@armoredghor hyperbole is not helping your cause.can you please tell me what extra value you see in xbox that warrants an extra $100?

Re: Xbox One Price Confirmed by Microsoft
@Sony_70 yes, but if anyone has to choose between xone or a highend tablet, which do you think people will choose?
