@Banjo- I have three game libraries and I'm quite confident they're going nowhere. Xbox, Steam and GOG (maybe GOG I'm not THAT confident).
Microsoft will always give you a way to play theirs (and that's what I care about: the games. Hardware is just a medium) whatever the doomers say.
Microsoft is a software company. Gaming is a HUGE software market. Therefore they're not leaving gaming ever regardless of what some would like.
@Banjo- I hope normal Sony fans are just enjoying what they like. I guess this has more to do with some kind of weird therapy on the childish mental illness of needing to go to a space about something you detest to whine. Insecurities? Maybe so.
Xbox Prime sounds great to me. It will sound so much better if it comes with the next multiplayer (also multiplatform I hope. The more, the merrier) Halo. Classic modes, extraction, Warzone, dungeons, raids, story seasons... One can dream!
@Fiendish-Beaver Not that a PS is another entirely different thing. A modified BSD system (I've worked on BSD systems myself), only they don't allow to go to "BSD desktop". I guess Microsoft just has to block people going to the Windows desktop or remove it from the system so every picky person can't name its machine "a PC" 🤣
@Fiendish-Beaver IF Magnus powers up holding a controller button and welcomes you with a classic console UI and doesn't require "PC tinkering" , it's a console. Consoles are just that, including Playstation: A semi-custom x86 (or ARM) chip with a simple UI. Unless we are trying to grasp at straws here.
@Banjo-
Indeed!
People (especially those engaged in social media wars) tend to think over the short term. But Microsoft is now the owner of A LOT of the most beloved and profitable IPs in the industry, which can be used for leverage as Microsoft sees fit at any moment. The only IP that can't be blocked (and just for less than 10 years now) is CoD.
I can totally see a path (if well executed) in which Microsoft closes the units sold gap with some hit games enough to be able to go harder and begin "blocking" more and more games to entice players to go to its ecosystem.

I see people taking all Xbox games on PS as a given.
Microsoft Gaming far outpaces the PS gaming production and could make one or two exclusive games a year and still release several multiplatform ones in that same year if they choose to fight for install base again. Even some big ones. Since "the plan is the plan until it isn't".
Current hardware prices and living costs would make many people think twice about which hardware to buy if they want to play some games (next Elder Scrolls among others) if Microsoft decides to go a bit scorched earth.
I think it's not so difficult to understand.
Multiplatform first party releases on other systems accounted for 2% OVERALL revenue (overall revenue includes first party revenue and the most important revenue, the 30% cut on third party games and MTX) while accounted for a MUCH HIGHER percentage over their FIRST PARTY revenue.
I mean, Y'ALL only have to READ THE LINKS the users posted (Yeah, yeah. I know not many of you write here in good faith and will twist everything, but still). At least do it before going against our fellow gamer @fatpunkslim.

Re: 'I'm Of Two Minds' - Todd Howard Gives His Thoughts On Xbox's Leadership Changes
The thousands of hours I've enjoyed The Elder Scrolls 3-5, Fallout 3, 4 and 76, and Starfield make me, undoubtedly, owe Todd.
What a legend.

@andrewsqual
You surely know PlayStation is just a (modified, just like the Xbox Windows OS) BSD PC without a "desktop mode", right?
