@VeganH DEFINITELY bump Banishers up your list. I put it off for ages and it's and absolutely stinking hidden gem of a game in my opinion. The storytelling and the narrative/decision making elements have me hooked! Go on!......
Late to the party. This released on Game Pass a little while ago. I downloaded it out of vague interest and it sat on my console gathering dust until recently as I have limited play time in the evenings and other games were ahead on my priorities list (Outer Worlds 2, FM26, Voidtrain) I finished Outer worlds 2, dabbled with FM26 and couldn't get into Voidtrain so eventually gave in and booted Banishers up. I have NEVER regretted waiting to play a game as much in my life!!! This game has me hooked after less than an hour. Yes the combat isn't exactly "groundbreaking" and the fetch quests frequent but oh....my ...god the WRITING! The lore and world building! The atmosphere! This game fully lives up to it's hidden gem status. It's unique, each haunting investigation is unique and varied and absolutely makes you think. There are no right or wrong decisions, noone in this game is innocent, and very few are outright evil. Every decision feels like it carries an emotional weight, and becoming invested in the main characters and their story makes it even more so. And at 45-80 hours for full completion it showers you with play time. Haven't enjoyed a game this much in years! I so hope they do a sequel! Although I'll actually have to finish this one first. Absolutely will be playing through again with different decisions....Life to the Living, Death to the Dead!
