@Pimpernel You're looking at franchise sales for most of them. Only God of War and Spiderman have reached those sales by individual games.
Truth is, Sony games like Microsoft ones pale in comparison to either Nintendo ones or third party offerings. Also all Sony and Microsoft exclusives are avaliable on PC.
@BacklogBrad Well their franchises are doing better and are more highly rated than Microsoft franchises. Asides from Resident Evil, you have Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, Dragon's Dogma and Devil May Cry.
Xbox has...Redfall? The disappointing Starfield and soon the likely disappointing Fable...not that any of them were good in the first place.
Microsoft has been as bad as Sony for the past few years for exclusives.
@Darude84 I enjoyed Wo Long but yeah, there were issues I had with the game. It felt rushed and pales in comparison to the Nioh series which IMO is far better than Dark Souls and Elden Ring too.
Nioh 1&2's combat system is also much better than the one is Wo Long, level design was better and Nioh 2 was better graphics despite being a last gen release.
@RBRTMNZ Well it does make sense. Nioh did DLC and that did well. Hell, even Ninja Gaiden did expanded content back in the day and those games actually are truly hard unlike Soulslikes.
Honestly, it doesn't take long to re-learn the controls if you've been away for a bit.
Also in this case, the DLC is coming out in a timely manner unlike Elden Ring's DLC which has been a year and counting. I've lost interest at this point.
@Novs It's sad you think it's "soulless" or empty like Forspoken. Soulless would ironically describe most Soulslike games that can't even do original marketing beyond copying the trailers for Dark Souls 1 still.
It's amazing some people still get hyped for those poor cash grabs which don't even try anything original.
This developer made two Soulslike games which actually were original. The Surge 1&2 with both even having features Elden Ring later incorporated like ability to perform jump attacks all the time or a counter attack immediately after blocking.
Both games also featured more traditional RPG mechanics with dialogue trees too and direct story telling. The theme was unique too instead of rehashing things like "everybody's undead and you have to choose between light or darkness."
Point is, this developer has a track record of making interesting games with new original themes too. I'm glad they're trying something new with an action RPG. Soulslike are overrated anyway. We need more action RPGs to return to this gameplay style or be like Dragon's Dogma which is infinitely more enjoyable than all the rehashes of Dark Souls 1 From Software and others have put out the last 10 years.
The fact of the matter is something like Dark Souls is easy to do which is why we have like 60+ Soulslike games in the last few years, some with far superior gameplay to the From Software originals (Nioh series being a prime example).
I'm glad Dragon's Dogma 2 is being carefully worked on by Capcom.
@101Force "I'd be willing to bet a lot of Xbox Series S owners are in a financial situation where local multiplayer is more attractive than online play"
This makes no sense. Some of us have girlfriends/wifes and family. Local multiplayer is therefore always attractive because you play in the same room on the same system, on the same screen. It's why the Switch is still beating both Xbox and PlayStation.
Sorry you never experienced local multiplayer. You realise Series X has that too right?

Re: Review: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Team Ninja Unleashes Its Finest Soulslike Experience Onto Xbox Game Pass
@JayJ I wouldn't classify Dark Souls, Elden Ring or this game as hard. Challenging sure. If you want an actual hard game, try Ninja Gaiden.
Re: Review: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty - Team Ninja Unleashes Its Finest Soulslike Experience Onto Xbox Game Pass
@Ashadelo Ninja Gaiden series is harder than all of From Software's games combined. Especially Razor's Edge.
Nioh and this are also easier due to RPG mechanics.
