I didn’t play it at the time it was released as I got totally engrossed with Baldur’s Gate 3, but I’ll definitely have a look now.

Humanity was a rare PS+ launch title - it’s very good and has a hypnotic minimalist soundtrack.

I usually play the game for a bit to see. If it’s fast paced with a lot of movement, I’ll go for frame rate, otherwise I go for resolution.

Still on with Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Game Pass and still enjoying it a lot. I don’t know why I missed this one when it was released. I also downloaded the X/S upgrade of Fallout 4 so I might have a look at that. I still haven’t got around to Dave the Diver, so I might try that too.

I loved the series and it’s a few years since I played Fallout 4, so I might give the updgraded version a go, alternatively I might try Fallout 76.

10/10, I loved it - so much better than I expected. The best video game adaptation yet. Very funny too.

On Series X, based on the recommendation of a friend I’m playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Game Pass. It’s actually the first Tomb Raider game I’ve played. Very impressed so far! Good fun and looks great. I might also have a go at Dave the Diver on PS5 which looks good and is on PS plus.

I absolutely loved it - the bits that people who have played the game would recognise were used subtly but well. It was also often very funny. Quite Terry Gilliam-esque at times, I thought.

I did another chapter of As Dusk Falls, but decided to leave the finale for tomorrow. Thought I’d give Botany Manor a try on Game Pass and am enjoying it, very relaxing to play.

No idea. I haven’t played it yet!

More background and story missions for individual characters - really make us care when they get chomped!

@fabio1 the review of Botany Manor in the Guardian (4 stars) says “There are fantastic, upfront accessibility options for players who struggle with the motion sickness that can often come with first-person gameplay”

So it might still be playable for you if you are interested.

I downloaded Kona which looks interesting, but Botany Manor sounds like my sort of thing too.

@SpecialT Having now played it for some time, I’ve also come to like the visual style of it. At first I thought it would be limiting, but it isn’t.

On Series X I decided to take a weekend off from Dragon’s Dogma 2 which I’ve been playing a lot. I was going to say I’m playing Open Roads instead but I have in fact played it! 2.5 hours to complete the story and get all the achievements. I thought it was better than the mixed reviews it has received and became engrossed in the story as it unfolded.

Anyway, having done that, I’ve made a start on As Dusk Falls. I bounced off it when it was released because I didn’t care for the art style, but once you get going you stop noticing it. I’m finding it pretty gripping, especially when I saw the ‘Detroit’-style flowcharts at the end of chapters that showed how different things could have been.

Just give Geometry Wars Retro/Evolved the full 4K treatment (not a remake, no need to mess with it) and I’ll be happy!

It wasn’t much of a patch in the end, less than 1GB. When I saw it was going I feared a Baldur’s Gate 3-style mega-download.

To be honest, I’m having such fun with it that I really haven’t noticed any performance issues, certainly nothing that would come even remotely close to spoiling my enjoyment.

After taking some time on Good Friday to properly get to grips with the game, I’ve been really having a blast with Dragon’s Dogma 2. I’ve put the main quest aside for a while and taken some time to fill in the blanks on the map, explore, and generally get into trouble.

I will still probably give it a go. I quite like the developer - both Gone Home and Tacoma surprised me by having happy endings that I really didn’t expect.

Dunno about anyone else, but I’ve got addicted to MS Jewel 2! My best score is 99,000,000.

If that’s it then a round of applause, hat tip etc. from me to the developers for a really great game that they can be proud of.

That is a surprise, I would have thought they would want to build on its success. Maybe there’s an issue with the D&D license holders because that all seems very final.

I pre-ordered, so glad to read this - I’m just in the mood for a big RPG, especially with a week off work coming up.

I bought it on release - good fun although the characters sometimes look like they are eating gobstoppers. I might give it another go, but there is Dragon’s Dogma 2 on the horizon. I did pretty well on my playthrough right up until the very end where I dithered and got two of my characters killed. ☹️

On Series X I tried the Unicorn Overlord demo for a bit, but I can’t say I liked the combat system, although I can see how it would provide tactical depth. Instead I got the Separate Ways dlc for Resident Evil IV, which I’ve just started. I might also give Inkulinati a go.

That’s barely long enough to download it - it has a ridiculously large file size for what it is, about 160GB!

I’m still playing Dead Island 2 and still having fun with it. Should get to the end of the story at some point over the weekend.

I enjoyed it too, it is what is often called a ‘walking simulator’, there’s no jeopardy or much gameplay, but the story is interesting and the voice acting is really good.

@Pac_Bot every time I open a door there seems to be a zombie behind it, I don’t know why I’m still surprised!

I thought I’d give it a try, but have played it for nearly 24 hours now, it’s much more fun than I expected. I’m playing the Irish lass so there’s a lot of ‘feck’ and ‘shoite’…

I bought it but there was no sound (on series x). The suggested ‘workaround’ didn’t work so I got a refund.

I fancy something un-stressful, so I’m going to give Return to Grace a try, in between watching the rugby. I’m also making my way through Demon’s Souls remake on PS5, which looks great and is really quite colourful for a souls game, I guess they wanted it to look pretty as it was a launch title.

One does have to wonder if the people who are upset have played the game. It’s been available on Xbox since 2022 and they are unhappy now? 🤷‍♂️☹️

@taternuggets to be fair, I’ve never sunk a non-skelly ship when soloing, but I have left a couple on the rocks and on fire and sailed off chuckling…

@taternuggets I’ve always had a fun time fighting galleons with a solo sloop - you can outrun them by sailing directly into the wind (not something you could do in real life, obviously!) and try and lead them onto rocks. I always find the real danger is sloops with 2 crew members, so I give other sloops a wide berth.

It’s good fun. Also, very handy for getting the daily achievement towards the 1,000 point reward - just a few minutes play in the morning is usually enough - there are over 80 achievements!

Hellblade 2 for me, I really liked the first one and I think Senua is a compelling character.

Nothing so far. I downloaded Persona 3 Reload from Game Pass and then thought I’d also download the demo for the new Final Fantasy game on PS5 as well. Of course, this ended up slowing both downloads to the point where it took all morning, and now, to be honest, I don’t really fancy playing either!

Think I’ll just watch the rugby instead…

Gears of War is my most wanted game on Xbox, never mind bloody PlayStation. I wish they’d at least announce something, even if it’s just a few more Horde maps for Gears 5!

Incidentally, did anyone notice that the 1,000 point Game Pass reward seems easier than last month? Maybe because February lasts 28 days whereas January lasts about 60? Brotato is pretty good for daily achievements, basically Vampire Survivors with a spud.🥔

I find the Train Sim games oddly engrossing. I liked driving the miles-long American train over the Tehachapi Pass in the last one even though I was barely going faster than walking pace.

I enjoyed Grounded and Pentiment, so I’ll keep an eye on this, but not including romance options in a choice-based RPG seems a bit poor.

If the games still appear first on Xbox and I can still play them on game pass then it is no loss to me. 🤷‍♂️

I got all the things I needed to do out of the way this morning, so this afternoon I’m going to try Resident Evil 2 on Xbox. I also did the ten-quid-upgrade thing with Last of Us 2 on PlayStation, so I might have a look at the new mode on that, although I don’t fancy another story play-through just yet. I suppose Harrison Ford’s voice is too ‘old’ nowadays. I remember when they got Sean Connery to voice a James Bond game when he was about 80, it just didn’t work.

I am looking forward to this - I enjoyed Hellblade and I think Senua is a really compelling character. How much of this is all just happening in her crazy head?

That looks very nice, although if you haven’t played it before, including an instruction booklet would spoil what is one of the most fun mechanics of the game.

If anyone is about to start it after holding on for this fix, here’s a tip - every few level-ups you get the opportunity to pick a ‘feat’. Although there’s a long list to choose from, the first one you pick should always be ‘Alert’. This raises your initiative score, so you’ll always go first in any combat. Without it, in bigger fights your team might be hit several times by higher-initiative enemies before you can even fight back.

Forgive me if I’m missing something here, but to me that doesn’t sound as though he is saying anything other than he is pleased the ABK deal is done and restating what they’ve said about it all along. 🤷‍♂️

I would guess that the ultimate aim (once it becomes practical) is to divorce ‘Xbox’ entirely from physical hardware and make it something that you can just subscribe to through your telly, like Netflix.
