Xbox relationship with capcom (while has improved) definetly declined since 360/early xbox one (when xbox was getting actual exclusives from them like dead rising 3)
Why would capcom sell to the most unpopular gaming brand overall in terms of presence and sales compared to nintendo, playstation, and even pc/steam?
Xbox is officially dead in japan, late ports (that most japanese gamers/weebs have already played) and only having marketing rights (that actually hurt games like phantasy star online 2 or scarlet nexus initially) is not enough nor just selling that failing gamepass. Persona 3 reload is coming to gamepass…but most people are gonna play and buy it on playstation/pc anyway
You simply need japanese exclusives to get people interested and xbox once understood this during og xbox/360 under the better leadership of peter moore (who was actually getting things done unlike that hack phil who is all talk) 360 sold over a million in japan because of the variety of japanese exclusives/localizations then
Not only is pc gaming becoming more popular in japan/overall, but once nintendo releases the next switch (and if its on par or even above series s) developers from japan and worldwide will prioritize and have more incentive to make games on switch 2 instead of xbox series s/x. most multiplat releases are gonna be ps5, switch 2, and pc
If only we got scalebound and the phantom dust remake during xbox one…xbox one (while not as good as the og xbox/360 lineup of japanese exclusives) could've had a decent library with those 2, dead rising 3, crimson dragon, and recore
@Benjamin It actually did (alongside many other japanese exclusives during 360 like ninety nine nights, blue dragon, infinite undiscovery, dead or alive 4 etc and timed exclusives like last remnant, star ocean 4, dead rising and tales of vesperia)
360 sold over 1 million in japan which was very impressive and above the sales of og xbox (despite how og xbox had great japanese support also)
@Tharsman Lol and what lineup of big exclusives have we got under phil's leadership into the series gen?
And (as I said) don did do some damage to the brand, I ultimately just desire to see phil gone with new leadership and don't see why you don't.
Dude has been at xbox as the head for a while (barely turning things around and noting that they are in 3rd place) and also even said that he doesn't mind if he's fired and says he's overpaid, its clear that phil isn't gonna get xbox to where it needs to be
@Tharsman Yeah don (as I stated) at least gave us a solid launch lineup with xbox one unlike phil with series, and he accurately predicted gaming is it is currently regarding aspects like always online, cloud, data stored server side, and people using consoles as a all in media device etc
Now I don't mean to sound like a fan of him, he did do damage to the brand and was worse compared to peter moore, but I'd still take him over phil. Phil has barely turned things around and he even states that xbox are still in 3rd place. I want a new leader
@Tharsman Uh no I don't want xbox itself gone, I want phil gone because he is a terrible leader for the brand that doesn't give any confidence to the community whatsoever (especially compared to the god peter moore) He was a great guy to come in initially, but now I'm ready for new leadership
I'd take don over that clown phil (and at least he had the decency to give us a solid launch lineup with xbox one)
He may be a *****, but jim ryan has done more for playstation (in less time!) compared to what phil has done for xbox

Re: Phil Spencer On Tokyo Game Show 2023: 'The Future For Xbox In Japan Is Bright'
More announcements of late ports instead of actual japanese exclusives
Re: Stop The Presses, Square Enix Just Announced A New Game For Xbox
Xbox paid for this, when it was initially announced it skipped xbox
And its also on windows and a play anywhere, stop blaming sony for xbox's own incompetence of getting games on the platform
They could've had ff16 as a exclusive if they really wanted to

Re: New Rumour Weighs In On Difficulties Between Xbox And Square Enix
Yup its all on xbox/microsoft, you can't always blame sony for games skipping the platform
This wasn't a issue during the 360 era where they were actually under good management and actually investing in japanese games
Phil needs to try as much as peter moore did and not cancel things like scalebound and the phantom dust remake
Re: Multiple Games Announced For Xbox Following February's Nintendo Direct
@Gr81 They are just gonna wait for the gamepass check
