@Microbius you realize those "idiots" are probably right based upon the sordid history of this game studio, right? The studio has like 8 people in it. Look at the game they've promised. You think 8 people made that, and are gonna switch engines at the last second for some reason and get it all done in a year?
They were hoping everyone would forget this game. Every game they have made had huge promises made, and about 10% reality payout on those promises. These games shipped broken (badly) and then there were the obligatory "we'll fix it" promises, followed by immediate pivoting to a new project featuring even more grandiose promises of amazing gameplay and graphics. They are currently being sued for the CF their last game turned out to be.
I want this game to be real. Given the history of those making it and their ability, I highly doubt it will ever see the light of day, or else it will be nothing like they promised. My guess is this sudden engine swap is to delay a bit and then excuses of "not being able to overcome limitations of the hardware/software for their vision" will get trotted out, and it'll be cancelled. I do sincerely hope I am wrong. But fool us once....
