Thank you for this write up. I think I was also partially confused by the initial announcement. While I remain excited about this upcoming product, if I'm being perfectly honest... Microsoft didn't do the greatest job with clarity on their launch video haha.
I kept reading comments on Reddit like "it can't even play xbox games!" and I found that so bizarre, like... are you complaining about it not being able to play games from physical discs!?! Of course it can't... haha.
I may still be a bit confused because I just asked Google if I purchased an older Xbox One title (South Park The Stick of Truth) through the digital store, could I play it on this device and it said yes. I'm not so sure about that answers' accuracy now, but... REGARDLESS, this little nuance isn't a big deal to me.
The way I play games currently, I have two systems. I have a Series X downstairs in my basement and I have a Switch Lite that I use upstairs when I'm laying in bed. If I just have to pick and choose which games I play for either device, that's fine. I understand others may not be keen to that idea, but I for one won't be bothered by that.
