Re: Throw Away Your Remotes and Control Your TV with Kinect

See, I don't think the hacks are irrelevant at all. They're a nice glance into the future and what software developers can achieve with the Kinect in the future. Having seen the Da Vinci hack I'm really interested to see an art or gravity based game, something like Okami on Kinect. The giant piano could have a great application in music games. etc, etc. I'm hoping developers really look at what people are doing and both match and exceed them. The software line up right now is kinda sad, but the hacks give me hope that won't be the case for long.

Been looking forward to a survival horror game on Kinect, so hope this one lives up to the expectations I have for them! I think you could really pull people in and build a lot of great atmosphere with the control scheme, I just hope it doesn't succumb to cheap, jumpy scares instead.

Re: Molyneux: "Kinect Will Bring New Genres, Controllers, Everything"

I think Molyneux's learned his lesson from Fable and the Black and White series and has definitely toned down his over-ambitious exaggerations. I think there may be a hint of that in this, and if Milo & Kate is released it wouldn't be quite the experience Molyneux is promising - But his excitement is always just so infectious, and I think in this case, going off what I've seen in terms of gameplay and Kinect hacks, I think he's probably right! I'll be eagerly looking forward to see what Lionhead can do with Kinect. They don't lack in ambition, and I'm sure whatever they do will be stunning and one of the better titles!

Re: Da Vinci Comes to Kinect with Incredible Results

I may be imagining things, but when Kinect was still Natal I'm sure I watched a demo of a Paint style program where somebody was literally throwing colours onto the screen, and also making a rough shape of an elephant with their body and then having an elephant print on screen. Ah, here it is...

Of course, the demo of the Da Vinci program above kinda blows that out of the water. But I was wondering why we didn't see these kind of things on launch. I was super impressed with the tech demo, and seeing the video above I think this is going to make for some really impressive puzzles within games, as well as some interesting games based around the mechanics on show.
