As CEO of Xbox, I would prioritize three pillars: effective marketing, strengthening Game Pass, and improving relationships with third-party studios. A great product without strong communication practically does not exist. Xbox and Microsoft need to better showcase their strengths, use the right channels, speak clearly to players, and avoid ambiguous messaging or sudden decisions that create distrust. It’s not about spending more, but about being creative, direct, and consistent. It’s also key to rely on specialized press and content creators, and even engage former detractors within the Xbox ecosystem.
Game Pass must regain its appeal: more first-party games in Essential; in Premium, allow users to choose one benefit (Day One releases, EA Play, Ubisoft, or Fortnite Crew); keep Ultimate as the complete option; integrate Game Pass PC into all tiers; and offer greater flexibility through optional add-ons to adjust pricing.
Finally, strengthen relationships with third-party studios: provide affordable dev kits and improve communication to prevent timed exclusives and build solid partnerships with both AAA and indie developers.
