Review: JSAUX Slim Carrying Case For ROG Xbox Ally - A Great Fit And Perfect For Backpacks (Main)

I've been in the possession of a ROG Xbox Ally X for over a month now, but I've been too fearful to take it on the road with me. I actually went on holiday to multiple countries, sitting on a plane for tens of hours in which I could have been playing all these great Xbox titles, but the fear of scratching or damaging it in my luggage was too great.

A case is what I needed, of course, and so I've finally been checking out this "Slim Carrying Case" from JSAUX Gaming (thanks to them for sending it to us). The best endorsement I can give is that it's solved my problem - this is a good case with a neat design, a fairly premium feel, and enough protection to safely carry the Xbox Ally in my backpack.

This is a no-frills case by design, so instead of giving you compartments for things like the power supply and various cables (which is what the Double-Decker Travel Case does), the slim version is just meant to keep everything nice and compact. You've got slots for SD and Micro SD cards which is slightly bizarre, but that's it - there's not even a little section where you can store a cloth to clean your screen, for example, which is perhaps a slight oversight.

The material inside is described as "soft plush lining", while the outside is felt. All of this feels good, with the outside having a ruggedness to it that seems durable, while the inside is soft to touch and has a section that folds onto the ROG Xbox Ally's screen when it's stored, theoretically cleaning it that way (or at least keeping it extra safe).

I do appreciate the addition of some raised zones for the analog sticks as well, which means you're less likely to put any pressure on those sticks if you're tightly fitting the case into your bag.

Speaking of bags, I've been testing this thing with a generic school-style Eurohike bag that I picked up many years ago and use for portability. It's a perfect bag for just throwing on my shoulder at a moment's notice and carrying around without any strain because of its small size, and I'm pleased to report that the ROG Xbox Ally inside the JSAUX Slim Carrying Case fits perfectly with plenty of room to spare.

In fact, thanks to its particularly slim design, I can put the Ally in my front pocket of the bag (as seen in the image above) and leave the main section completely free for anything else. It's a big handheld and you're never going to get away from that, but I do feel much more inclined to bring it on the road because of this case now, especially considering it adds very little weight.

Finally, I do want to highlight the lack of unpleasant off-gassing smells that some cases tend to give off at first (if you know, you know!). I was fully ready for this after opening the box, and I'm sure there's a bit of it going on, but it certainly doesn't hit you in the face like some accessories tend to do. In other words, I haven't felt the need to air this thing out!

So, there you go. That's the JSAUX Slim Carrying Case for the ROG Xbox Ally, which I think is a perfectly great option for anyone who's looking to protect their system when travelling or even just in the home.

The next thing for me is a screen protector, which ideally would have been covered in the cost here but unfortunately is a separate purchase, albeit not an expensive one. If you have bought one of these handhelds recently, I highly recommend protecting it as much as possible - it's an expensive piece of tech after all!
