Unlocking Xbox's New Mythic Achievement Sounds Incredible, And Here's How It Might Work 1

Xbox players have yearned for a completion achievement akin to Sony's Platinum Trophy for yonks now. Just a little something extra for hunting down all the challenges tucked away in our games.

Not too long ago, Xbox Boss Asha Sharma all but confirmed something was in the works, which seems to have been recently spotted as a Mythic Achievement. Now, thanks to Klobrille, we have our first look at its symbol and what unlocking it sounds like. And, oh boy does it feel like pouring sweet nectar into my ear.

Personally, I think it looks just fine visually. It's a little icon at the end of the day, but that sound is top notch. I suppose, it's not what it looks like, it's just how many you've got.

To be clear, Xbox hasn't actually confirmed anything about the Mythic Achievement. It's still just assumptions at this point. Xbox Insiders and us here at Pure Xbox, believe this is the fabled 100% achievement Sharma was hinting at. Y'know, similar to the Platinum Trophy.

That said, as spotted by XCT.live - these majestic back-end wizards - they've managed to dig into the code and reveal a few titbits about how the new Mythic Achievement works. The main takeaway is an answer to the question I've been wondering: Do you need the DLC to earn a Mythic? Short answer is no.

"The Xbox app works out Mythic from a group of achievements that it calls BaseGame. The unlock toast says “Unlocked all N achievements in the original game”. The game page has a “Required for Mythic achievement” filter, and it labels every achievement outside the group as “Add-on”. DLC achievements are not in the BaseGame group, so they do not count. The app counts achievements, not Gamerscore. It is not a “100% Gamerscore” reward."

This indicates that players will only need to unlock all the game's original achievements to earn a Mythic. If that's correct, then it all but confirms the Mythic Achievement as Xbox's Platinum equivalent.

Something we still don't know is how these will be implemented retroactively across our current progress. Time will tell, but at least for now, we know it sounds bloody magnificent. Hopefully, it starts rolling out to Xbox users soon.
