Xbox Reveals Dates For Six More FanFest Events Taking Place In 2026

Imagine not being at a fan fest because you have to be at work or ANYTHING ELSE and knowing you aren’t going to be getting a free Xbox series x that’s limited edition but then a bunch of highly paid streamers and reporters will…because XBOX is all CAPS now MFs

I think “the elder scrolls: THE NEW offline ONE” will release with the console so 2030-2036 if the world still stands

@Fiendish-Beaver I would have said I concur doctor but we seem to be forgetting that these shell of a soul of companies has increased prices maybe three times in little over a couple years on the product currently for sale; then we have semi conductor issues across the globe: and WAR NEVER CHANGES scenarios as well: so that’s why I push it back farther; I don’t see them coming out with a new console to say hey guys you can buy this series X for $800 or you can buy Helix now for $1200 the price of a used relic still working 1992 Mazda Mx5……see what I mean ya angry beaver!!!

I think a next-gen console for GTA 6 would've been a perfect launch, since it has far larger appeal than any of Xbox's own games.

But I agree, the rumoured timeline about an year ago was 2026 for Xbox's next gen launch and 2027 for Sony's. Now it seems like Xbox's delay might pit its console head-to-head against Sony's.

@betterthings my opinion on GTA is how I think about super hero movies at this point it’s become so mainstream it will please the average masses and not the hardcore fans like us people posting on this forum
I mean I think GTA doesn’t feel like GTA since having online GTA be the main course…with no Houser involved; GTA trailer looks like a dude holding a girl by the waist at every trailer; I like my games to be fun and I taught the likes of GTA4 was very social satire gold versus 5 where I think the single player was very cool thanks for all the playable characters: but as we age as gamers don’t you guys miss having a brand new game? Not just another part to a continuing series; especially one like GTA where the story only is as good as you’d allow it to be if you think about it; I’ve talked to people who don’t remember much of a social satire at all; they just remember robbing and killing NPCS

I haven’t been a fan of GTA online for a minute now; the characters introduced are very LOW BAR and if I have to play a game where I have social media influencers as buddies and then some dude dressed like Fred Durst in 2001 is telling me what to do?! No thanks I’ll skip it.

I mean at this point personally I skip on most releases when they do come out because they’re so buggy or takes a year to get patched….like if elder scrolls did come out next week I wouldn’t buy it until 2 years from now when the game of the year edition comes out with all the patches and DLC

You do you man, but I am more of an exception to your thesis than the norm.

Developers can probably make games more frequently, if people were fine playing games that look like they came straight out of Xbox 360 generation. But people keep crying about wanting 4K 120fps experiences with denser environments and more NPCs. Making those a possibility takes years, and so yes, I am fine with the current release schedule.

I don't see games in the Grand Theft Auto series as simple repackaging of the same game with a different story. Rather, it is probably the only franchise where each game is a unique experience, only sharing the genre specific elements. I see them as unique as Sleeping Dogs, Saints Row or Mafia are in this genre.

The social satire was always meant to be environmental storytelling, unlike the staged sequences in many other games. So, of course, people don't remember it. It doesn't matter. The satire serves its purpose beautifully when you are playing the game.

I have never been a fan of multiplayer or online in games. I play solo, so I never worried about GTA Online. I see it simply as a recurring revenue model that sustains the development of their future games. The good thing here is that Rockstar hasn't dropped or reduced their single player offering to chase the live service model, unlike many big publishers. Rather they keep serving the Online audience, while developing rich exceptional single player experiences like RDR2 and hopefully will continue with GTA VI.

I personally don't follow the rumours or hype around any video game, even GTA VI, but I am definitively going to play it soon. I don't know if I will be there day one or not, I have yet to see gameplay and other aspects of the game to make that decision. But it is certainly my kind of game.

Kotaku has an interesting article on FanFest. MS announced that it is returning to LA to recognizing the folks who have been with XBox over the years. Yet the recent layoffs have removed most of those people from XBox. Even worse, Chris Munson, who started the event, was laid off as well.

Tone deaf MS is obvious. It's like they are trying to brush all the negatives under the carpet while moving forward like they care. Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable going to an event celebrating XBox when the company who fired them is the only one who will reap any benefits.
