Here we go! Xbox Disc to Digital is now officially live for the first set of users following its announcement a few days ago, giving us a first glimpse at how the feature works ahead of its wider rollout in the near future.
As you're probably aware, this feature allows you to insert a physical Xbox One or Xbox Series X disc into your console and receive a free digital copy, along with additional benefits such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Play Anywhere support where applicable. Members of the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings of the Xbox Insider program are testing it first, and then it'll eventually start appearing in more rings in the coming weeks and/or months.
Fans have already been sharing evidence of it working, so here are a few examples:
There are a couple of things that are particularly noteworthy from these initial discoveries. The first is that some delisted Xbox Store games are actually working with the disc-to-digital feature (such as OnRush, Deadpool and WWE 2K24), but definitely not all of them - it's already been suggested that Forza Horizon 3 isn't working, for example.
Xbox also mentioned that "thousands" but not all Xbox One and Xbox Series X titles would be supported at launch, although they were hoping to add more down the line.
The likes of Assassin's Creed Shadows, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and even Forza Horizon 6 are examples that aren't featured right now, so here's hoping they get support down the line.
We know you're probably very keen for a full list of all games featured in the Xbox Disc to Digital program, but it might take a little while before this gets compiled - nothing official has been provided at the time of writing. That said, various fans have started sharing their own lists across various sources, which we've covered elsewhere on Pure Xbox.
