Microsoft Rewards Announces Major Changes For May 2026 Across Multiple Regions

Over the past few months, we've noticed a few Microsoft Rewards / Xbox Rewards users mentioning that they'd seen a notification of major changes coming to their membership, but the rollout has been quite scattered up until now.

However, over the past few days, it seems like a lot more people have just been notified that they'll be getting the same overhaul in May 2026 — particularly in European countries, including the UK.

When logging onto the Microsoft Rewards dashboard on a browser, they've been seeing the following message:

We've noticed people in the likes of Italy, Germany, France, Ukraine and even Thailand reporting that they're just now seeing this message, and we're also getting it here at Pure Xbox in the UK. For those who are wondering, we haven't seen any suggestion that the United States is getting it just yet (but probably in the future).

But what does it mean? Well, Microsoft Rewards users who already have the system in places such as Australia and Canada have been sharing their feedback and how it works, and the structure certainly seems quite different now.

For what it's worth, here's a look at the potential earnings that were shared by someone in Canada earlier this year. Note how Level 1 and Level 2 have been renamed to "Silver" and Gold":

As you can see, there's something new here called the Bing STAR Bonus for up to 2100 Microsoft Rewards points per-month — this is apparently a perk where instead of rewarding you instantly for some searches, you also get a special allocation of points to redeem at the end of the month.

Here's a bit more about the Bing STAR Bonus tracker and how it updates:

It's worth noting that the system we're seeing here might be a little different when it rolls out to European countries and anyone else who gets it in May 2026, so take all of this with a pinch of salt if hasn't rolled out to you already.

We'll let you know what happens with this next month, and if you do happen to have received all of these changes at some point earlier in 2026 (or even in 2025), please let us know what you think of them down in the comments below!
