The annual Game Developers Conference is officially underway for its 2026 edition, and both former Xbox boss Phil Spencer and new Xbox boss Asha Sharma have been taking photos with attendees over the past 24 hours.
In regards to Phil Spencer specifically, he's been spotted wearing a couple of humorous name tags at the event - one which states "hello, my name is retired", and another that refers to himself as Asha Sharma's assistant.

Phil's not lying — although he is technically retiring from Xbox, he's also committed to sticking around until the summer to help Asha Sharma ease into the role of Microsoft Gaming CEO, so that does make him her assistant right now.
The former Xbox boss surely won't be feeling as much pressure anymore, but Sharma herself isn't showing any signs of nerves, taking a bunch of relaxed photos yesterday and once again giving off good first impressions. Nice to see!
