Xbox Sends Out $5 Call Of Duty 'Campaign' Bonus, But It's Not What It Seems

Xbox occasionally offers up bonus gift cards for participating in select promotions, and when this happens, they're usually tied to something nice and simple like a big digital sale the team wants to promote. Sometimes though, they're a little more specific - and this new Call of Duty-related promo is one of those times; and it's rather confusing to boot.

Basically, some Xbox players have received a new message from Microsoft about a bonus $5 gift card for "participating in the Black Ops 7 campaign". However, this isn't for playing the game's story campaign; Xbox is seemingly referring to the 'promotional campaign' rather than the Black Ops 7 single-player mode. Confusing, we know.

A response on Reddit here seems to suggest that this promo was previously advertising for buying one of Black Ops 7's 'BlackCell' battle passes, which are basically super-premium editions of a normal battle pass. This seems like the plausible answer to all of this confusion, given that a very similar thing happened two or three months ago with the game's 'Vault Edition' upgrade (which also included a BlackCell pass).

Anyway, we just wanted to try and clear some air on this, as we were seeing people trying to find answers about the promo and its strange wording relating to the 'Black Ops 7 campaign'. Sorry folks, you most likely had to buy a premium pass to get in on this Call of Duty Xbox bonus!
