We're all well aware that Hideo Kojima is working on a project for Xbox right now in the form of "OD", and so it's probably no surprise that he's paid a visit to Xbox HQ to visit new boss Asha Sharma and EVP Matt Booty.

There's nevertheless been a lot of interest in the photo he's shared though, in which he's pictured holding a mysterious gift that reads "Xbox for Kojima" on the front, which has inevitibly led to a lot of questions about what's in the box!

Many have speculated that it could be the development kit for Xbox's next-gen Project Helix console, while others guess that it's a custom controller or Xbox Series X|S designed around OD.

In response to the photo, Xbox boss Asha Sharma described the meeting as a "wonderful way to close my first 60 days" in the role of Microsoft Gaming CEO, but didn't share any hints as to what might be in the case.

These aren't the only photos that Kojima has shared from his trip to Microsoft, either! He also posed alongside statues for the likes of Master Chief and Fallout Boy, and even took a picture with former Xbox boss Phil Spencer:

We're not going to read too much into what Kojima is holding in the first photo, but if it is a Project Helix development kit, it sounds like he's one of the first to get it — developers aren't supposed to be receiving them until 2027.

Of course, his trip might coincide with plans to unveil more of OD later this year as well, and we wouldn't be surprised to see it appear at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 in June.

Hopefully we'll find out more about the game — and maybe even the gift — in just a couple of months' time. Stay tuned!
