Obsidian To Work On Two DLCs & 'Continual Improvements' To The Outer Worlds 2 In 2026026

As we look towards the new year, the team over at Obsidian Entertainment has shared some words with Xbox Wire, highlighting plans to "continually improve" its sci-fi RPG The Outer Worlds 2 in 2026.

As part of a general end of year message from Microsoft's studios, Obsidian's Brandon Adler talked a little bit about what the team is working on for The Outer Worlds 2, including those two premium expansions announced before the game launched back in October. We'll share their words down below:

"I’m excited to work with the team to continue adding to The Outer Worlds 2. We have a couple of DLCs coming out and we are also talking about what kind of continual improvements we want to release to the players over the next year. We have a ton of ideas – everything from new features to quality-of-life improvements that players have been asking for when we talk to them. It’s an exciting time for us and I can’t wait to share more info once we get deeper into the planning."

That's right, if you ended up joining in with The Outer Worlds 2 early access via the game's premium upgrade, you'll also be getting two big DLCs - once Obsidian has them developed, polished up and ready to go. We don't have release dates for either of them yet, but clearly, they're a big focus for the team in 2026.

And, by the sounds of those "continual improvements" — including "new features and quality-of-life" changes — standard edition players will have plenty to look forward to with The Outer Worlds 2 next year as well. Knowing Obsidian, it's going to be another big year for one of Xbox's premiere RPG developers.
