Fallout 76 is playable for free on Xbox through December 23rd, and at the same time, "players can claim the Fallout 1st Limited Preview Trial directly from the Atomic Shop".

Here's a bit more detail on that Fallout 1st trial:

"During your Limited Preview Trial, players can enjoy perks including access to the Scrapbox for unlimited crafting supply storage, the Aid Box for keeping your healing items safe, the Survival Tent to rest and even fast travel while on the road and even a 10% boost to S.C.O.R.E. earned to help progress your way through Fallout 76’s latest in-game Season."

Alongside these two free trials, Microsoft has also added a new Fallout 76-themed dynamic background for Xbox Series X|S users, as highlighted in the recent December Update.
