With just hours to go until showtime, the first reviews have arrived! A bunch of outlets have received access to the first six (out of eight) episodes of the season, and the good news is that plenty of them are positive.
Here's what some of the Fallout Season 2 reviews are saying:
SlashFilm (8/10)
"It remains to be seen where exactly this is all heading, and whether "Fallout" can stick the landing. Still, if the first six episodes of season 2 are anything to go by, the show has earned our goodwill with a thrilling, hilarious, and visually stunning story worth sticking with."
Variety (Positive)
"While Season 2 isn’t as structurally tight as the first one was, the secrets and revelations unveiled here will keep viewers glued to their screens. As human beings, we are continually faced with challenging decisions, and in “Fallout,” the consequences of those choices, ours and others, have never been so poignant."
IGN (8/10)
"Fallout’s second season – at least the first six episodes of it – is both a strong return to its uniquely bizarre post-apocalypse world and an admirably authentic adaptation of what made New Vegas distinct among its series peers. This story of warring factions, and the complex characters caught up in those conflicts, feels grander in scale than last year’s adventure, but no less detailed. While there are some missteps when it comes to the secondary storylines, and some plots move at a stronger pace than others, Season 2 is nonetheless shaping up to be a strong second chapter for Fallout."
Empire (4/5)
"As confident as a gunslinger landing a clean shot on a vault-dwelling Radroach, Fallout Season 2 proves Season 1 was no fluke. This time around, as it invites us to get to know the wonderful weirdos of the wasteland, it’s a whole lot easier to embrace them."
GamesRadar (3.5/5)
"Prime Video's live-action TV adaptation of Fallout remains fun as hell, and kicks it up a notch by bringing New Vegas to life with stunningly accurate set designs and franchise Easter eggs galore. While the flashbacks to the Ghoul's Hollywood actor past prove to be the most compelling part of the season, other plotlines make it all feel a little overcrowded in the end."
Polygon (Negative)
"I worry that Fallout’s downward spiral will only continue. As Westworld soldiered on, the world got bigger, but the story got more generic. By the time HBO canceled Westworld — on a major unresolved cliffhanger! — it didn’t seem like anyone even cared where it was all headed. Fallout risks going down the same path. The last few episodes of season 2 might correct that course (season 3 is also already greenlit, for what it’s worth) but if not, Nolan may develop an unfortunate reputation for setting up exciting sci-fi TV shows that fail to pan out."
In terms of timing, the plan is for episodes to release weekly, so you won't be able to binge-watch unless you wait until February 4th of 2026 — the date when the eighth and final episode of the season is set to roll out.
We've seen a ton of marketing for this season in the lead up to release, so everyone at Xbox, Bethesda and Amazon will be crossing their fingers it's a hit when it debuts in just a few hours' time.
