We've been eagerly awaiting the release of 007 First Light on Xbox next year, so we're a little saddened (but not too surprised) to hear it's been pushed back slightly from March to May of 2026.
Specifically, 007 First Light will now launch on May 27th, 2026. This is one day after the date that was set for GTA 6 until Rockstar Games pushed their game to November recently, freeing up some extra development time for the folks at IO Interactive.
Those extra two months will allow for "polish" and to "refine the experience" according to the team:
"The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will alow us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the strongest possible version at launch."
Everything we've seen from 007 First Light so far suggests it's going to be a fantastic game, so we're perfectly happy to wait a little longer for it. Maybe we'll all be thanking Rockstar for the GTA delay in a few months' time!
The date hasn't shifted on the Xbox Store at the time of writing, but we think pre-orders will remain available anyway — if you're interested, you can get the Deluxe Edition Upgrade and 24 hours of early access for free as part of your pre-order, with the game retailing at £59.99 / $69.99.
