Over the past year-or-so, you may have heard about an indie game called Thank Goodness You're Here! that's proved a hit across PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, and now it's finally getting an Xbox release on December 9th, 2025.
The game is a self-described "comedy slapformer" that takes place in Northern England and sees you exploring the town of Barnsworth as a travelling salesman and meeting all the very eccentric locals.
Here's what our sister site Nintendo Life had to say about it in their "Excellent" 9/10 review last year:
"Thank Goodness You’re Here! is a brief but oh-so sweet romp into a world that simultaneously makes no sense and yet perfect sense to those familiar with British culture. Bursting with excellent humour (which is no small feat in a video game), beautiful artwork, and fantastic animation, it’s a wonder the devs managed to pack as much as they did into its short runtime. Performance may not be 100% perfect on Switch, and if you’ve no funny bone in your body, you’ll wonder what the point of it all is, but it’s still some of the best and most intense fun we’ve had in years on Nintendo’s console. Our faces hurt from laughing so much, and we don’t think there’s much greater praise than that."
Although it didn't appear in yesterday's Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Thank Goodness You're Here! is still an Xbox Play Anywhere title - meaning if you buy it for Series X and Series S, you'll get the PC version thrown in for free as well.
We'll throw a few extra details along with some screenshots below.
“Thank Goodness You’re Here!” is a comedy slapformer, which unfolds over time as the players' exploration and antics leave their mark on the strange town of Barnsworth. With each completed odd job, new areas of the town open up, stranger and stranger tasks become available, and the clock ticks towards our salesman’s big meeting. The town’s colorful inhabitants are brought to life with vibrant hand-drawn animation, fully voiced dialogue, and wall-to-wall double entendres.
