Shortly after the launch of Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X|S, we heard on multiple occasions that the game was doing pretty well in the wake of its fresh port - and now new comments coming directly from Sony shine a very positive light on the game, and on its performance since moving over to Microsoft's console platform.
As part of new Sony's new financial results, the company has touched on Helldivers 2 and its ongoing success. The PlayStation owner says that Arrowhead's co-op shooter "is doing extremely well", and that "attracting new users on Xbox" has contributed to "a significant increase in sales of the title year-on-year".
"Helldivers 2, which was also released for Xbox in August of this year, is doing extremely well, not only attracting new users on Xbox, but also seeing increased engagement from existing users on PS5 and PC. This resulted in a significant increase in sales of the title year-on-year."
As we hinted at up at the top, this isn't the first time we've heard that Helldivers 2 on Xbox has been pretty successful. Early estimates reckoned that the game shipped around a million units in its first week on the platform, with further data suggesting that the launch led to a "substantial uplift" in Helldivers 2 revenue following its Xbox release; which has now been backed up by Sony with the above quote from its latest fiscal report.
As for what's next for developer Arrowhead, well, aside from continuing to support Helldivers 2, a new project is also in the works; a project that the studio has total control over. That means the team's next game will likely come to Xbox, especially in the wake of such a positive response to Helldivers 2 on the platform.
