Halo Reporter Thinks They've Discovered Who's Developing The Combat Evolved 'Remake'

It's no secret that the folks over at Halo Studios are seemingly cooking up a new version of Halo: Combat Evolved that's likely going to arrive next year, and one Halo reporter in particular thinks they know exactly who's working on it.

This is a reporter known as Rebs Gaming, who's delved into the situation and discovered that Abstraction - a studio that was acquired by Virtuos back at the end of 2024 - is seemingly co-developing the project with Halo Studios.

Virtuos, for those who aren't aware, was involved in developing Oblivion Remastered as well.

"If my sources and evidence are correct, Abstraction, who was acquired by Virtuos in December 2024 and created features for Halo MCC from 2021-2022, is developing the Halo CE Remake.

The online evidence I found: Abstraction’s website lists Halo Studios as a partner. The LinkedIn profile of an Abstraction developer who worked at Bungie as a Halo 2 level designer reveals they are developing campaign missions for a high profile AAA game."

One of the things that still seems up in the air is whether this is a "remake" or a "remaster". We've seen different reporters refer to it as different things, and let's not forget that the same thing happened with Oblivion Remastered - lots of people were calling that one a "remake" before it was officially revealed.

We suspect it'll be more of a "remaster", but who knows - we'll hopefully find out for sure at the Halo World Championships in late October, when Halo Studios looks set to reveal the game (and potentially more than one!).

Excited for this? Do you want to play through Halo 1 again? Tell us in the comments down below.
