Battlefield 6 has been out for almost a week now, which has given the folks at Digital Foundry plenty of time to dig into every version of the game for its latest analysis video - including the Xbox Series X and S versions which largely impress throughout.
If you'd like to hear it straight from the DF team we've chucked their BF6 face-off up above, which covers all versions of the new EA shooter. We're going to break down the big takeaways here as well of course, starting with resolution and frame rate figures.
The analysis found resolutions from 1296p to 1440p in Xbox Series X's 60FPS balanced mode, while Xbox Series S's sole 60FPS mode ranges from 864p to 1008p. Both consoles stay very close to the 60FPS target throughout, even in busy scenes during campaign and multiplayer.
"Overall, Battlefield 6 performs well across the current-gen console systems. It's a visually conservative game in some ways, but performance is basically flawless for a big budget title, and it has attractive visuals."
There's also a bonus for Xbox Series X players who have a 120Hz display: an unlocked frame rate mode. This mode drops resolution slightly and hits around 90FPS on average, but the DF team does warn players that they'll want a VRR display when using this mode. The 120Hz Performance Mode has near-constant screen tearing without VRR enabled!
And, to be honest, that's about your lot - the rest of Battlefield 6 is just as you'd expect, with the team at EA and Battlefield Studios polishing this one up nicely on all platforms. We're especially impressed with the Xbox Series S version here despite some of the showcased cutbacks; it looks pretty darn good at 60FPS when you consider the spec of that machine.
