Last week, Bethesda and Nightdive Studios shadow dropped Heretic + Hexen on Xbox Game Pass following several teases from the remaster specialist developer - and now the folks over at Digital Foundry have given this one a proper seal of approval in their latest retro analysis.
As you can see in the above video, DF's John Linneman has gone over Xbox's recent shadow drop — the PC version, mind you — ultimately coming away super impressed by the overall package. Here's how Linneman summed up their thoughts on Heretic + Hexen:
"So, yeah, Nightdive has done it again - what can I say. It's a great package that actively improves on the original games while still offering the 'unedited' experience if you choose. The extra content, the mod menu, the graphics and performance options - all this stuff is great, not to mention of course the soundtrack right, I really cannot recommend this one enough."
Despite analysing this on PC in the above video, the host does go on to say that they will be checking out the console versions in due course, and will let folks know if anything untoward crops up there. Having said that, faith in Nightdive Studios to deliver is at an all-time high following a string of popular remasters in recent years.
As we mentioned right at the top, this package is available on Xbox Game Pass right now - with Microsoft owning both Bethesda (who published this remaster) and Activision's Raven Software (who created the original titles). It could well be time to get all retro on XGP this week, folks!
