Destiny 2's base game went free-to-play a number of years ago now, but at this stage, much of the game can only be experienced through Bungie's ever-growing expansion list - which is obviously additional paid content. Well, as of now and until Tuesday, July 22, all of those premium expansions have been made free-to-play.

Yep, the team is offering two weeks of 'Open Access' to all Destiny 2 players - in an attempt to bring new folks into the fold and perhaps showcase existing base game players why it's worth picking up some of this DLC in the future. Here's how Bungie describes its huge free-to-play expansion offer:

"Do you have a few friends interested in Destiny, but that hesitate to make the jump? Good news: let them know about the Destiny 2 Open Access weeks!

Starting July 8 (that’s next Tuesday) and until July 22, all currently available Destiny 2 Expansions will be available for free on all supported platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store). Additionally, all three currently available Episodes will also be free for all supported platforms until July 15.

And the cherry on top: all the currencies, gear, Title, Triumphs, and cosmetics earned during the Open Access period are yours to keep."

As you can see up above, the offer doesn't stop at those expansions either. For a slightly less generous time of one week (through July 15), the game's three content 'Episodes' are also free-to-play for all Destiny 2 players. These are another form of paid DLC that Bungie has introduced since its last main expansion released in 2024.

Anyway, we thought this was all worth mentioning as there's lots of extra Destiny 2 content to enjoy here in these premium DLC packs. The included non-vaulted expansions are as follows: Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, Lightfall, The Final Shape.
