We saw a lot of upcoming Xbox Game Pass titles during the summer showcase season this year, and one that perhaps flew under the radar a bit was Mixtape - a title that was featured during the Summer Game Fest 2025 livestream.
This is an upcoming 2025 adventure game by the developers of The Artful Escape, and it follows three friends and a "mixtape" of memories highlighting their teenage experiences, set to a star-studded soundtrack featuring the likes of Iggy Pop, Roxy Music, Joy Division, The Cure and a whole lot more.
Speaking after the Xbox Games Showcase, Xbox boss Phil Spencer highlighted Mixtape as a game that he really enjoyed playing at Summer Game Fest 2025, particularly because of its great soundtrack:
"I have to [mention] Mixtape, not only because it has a soundtrack that I just love, but also we have a relationship with obviously the creative team there, we have for a while and it's a great Game Pass game for us. The team at Annapurna Interactive has been great supporters."
"Mixtape and the soundtrack... I just was talking to them about what they were picking — I don't know what they're showing so I won't unveil some of the tracks — but we were kind of riffing on our taste in music, and I think they really nailed it."
Windows Central also had great things to say about Mixtape in their recent preview of the game:
"I really didn't know what to expect, but I'm happy to say that after playing the demo slice, Mixtape is one of the most creative games I've played in a while, with perfect pacing and constantly-shifting gameplay."
We've got Mixtape included in our big 2025 Xbox Game Pass list here at Pure Xbox, but it unfortunately doesn't have a definitive release date as of yet, so we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for that over the coming months.
In the meantime, you can check out more details and screenshots for Mixtape down below.
En route to their final party together, a perfectly curated playlist draws three friends into dreamlike reenactments of their formative memories. Experience a variety of narrative vignettes exploring the pivotal moments that shaped them. Players will immerse themselves in the teenage wasteland by playing through a mixtape of joyful gameplay, from skateboarding and flying to taking photos after hours at an abandoned theme park, hitting baseballs, and putting on a fireworks show from the backseat of a car. It's the greatest hits of the teenage experience, from the first kiss to the last dance.
