Gears Of War: Reloaded Physical Version Confirmed For PS5, Digital-Only On Xbox

Gears of War: Reloaded marks the series' PS5 debut later this year, and it seems as though PlayStation players will be getting even more bonuses beyond that. Not only is the game getting a proper disc-based physical release on PS5, but it's looking like the whole game will actually be printed onto the disc too, unlike Indiana Jones.

First off, let's address the general physical availability of Gears Reloaded. Yep, pre-orders for the game are starting to go live at retailers now, and it's only the PS5 version that's getting an actual physical release. Xbox players will seemingly have to stick to buying the digital version or accessing the title through Game Pass, at least for now.

What's also interesting is we're starting to see rumours that this time, the whole game will be printed onto the disc and therefore playable offline on PS5. As shared by our friends at Push Square, Spanish site Vandal is reporting that Xbox reps in the region have confirmed the full game will be on-disc for Gears Reloaded. Interesting!

We're going to assume that a big reason behind this may well be the overall size of the game. Gears Reloaded is largely based on Xbox One's Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and we'd assume its file size is small enough to fit onto a single disc. Still, for now this isn't officially confirmed, so you collectors out there will probably have to wait until launch to find out for sure.

While this is cool for PlayStation players and definitely a nice bonus, we'd like to see Xbox players given the same option as well. When Gears Reloaded was first revealed, we went on a little rant about how the announcement felt much more geared toward PS5 players than anyone else - doubly so after this news! Still, Gears of War is an absolute classic, and we're looking forward to replaying the game nonetheless.
