As part of the BlizzCon 2023 celebrations, the class-based free-to-play shooter Overwatch 2 has unveiled a brand new hero. Introducing Mauga - a brand new tank hero. He'll be available in a "limited-time trial" this weekend before his release in Season 8.

Here's a bit about him, courtesy of Blizzard:

"He was first introduced four years ago in a short story...we finally have our first Samoan hero. Mauga is his name, it means "mountain" in Samoan. He portrays himself as this big loud brute, however this is just a facade, he's a cunning tactician always one step ahead of his enemies... even his tattoo was made by an amazing Samoan artist"

Mauga's is equipped with two chain guns and can unleash "Cardiac Overdrive" - an ability to damage enemies and gain life at the same time. Once again, you can test out this character now between 3rd and 5th November, and his official release will follow in Season 8 on 5th December.

Along with this, Overwatch 2 is introducing a brand-new Clash PvP game mode where players visit the new Hanaoka map - inspired by "fan favourite" Hanamura. As part of these celebrations, Xbox has also created an Xbox Design Lab controller theme inspired by the latest in-game collaboration with Le Sserfim.
