After Hellblade 2, Here Are The 10 Highest-Rated Xbox Games Of 2024 So Far

Oh wow glad to see like a dragon on top of that list. Never really see that anywhere else.

Banishers is the best game that I have played this year, that came out this year (I also played Life of P, which was simply phenomenal, but that came out last year).

I've literally just finished Hellblade 2. Wasn't particularly keen on the combat as I really struggled with parrying in this one, whereas with the first one, I had no issues. I thought the game to be simply beautiful at times with some absolutely stunning vistas. I enjoyed the story, and the atmosphere, and have left it feeling sated (it didn't outstay its welcome) and very impressed...

@CutchuSlow LAD: Infinite Wealth is GROSSLY ignored. As of right now, that game should be our 2024 game of the year, hands down.

Hopefully avowed, Ara, age of mythology, and Indy hit as well.

Hellblade 2 is a 87 easily to me.

The frist was an 88? Wild lol. Few really bad reviews really swung that.

For what it's worth Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is my favorite game from that list. Such injustice that it didn't sell better.

Unicorn overlord is very good, I’d highly recommend it.

I’m a couple of hours into Hellblade 2 and if it stays like this it’ll sit as my GotY so far. Followed by Stellar Blade, Unicorn Overlord, and Helldivers 2. I thought FFVII Rebirth would be my top game but I just can’t stand all of the mini-games it forces you to play, I want to love it, I just can’t.

I was actually quite surprised at the lower score from PUREXBOX not because they are Xbox Centric but because Senua's Saga Hellblade 2 is so clearly worthy of a better score even if like me you felt the story was a bit lighter than Sacrifice or some others thought they should have do more with the combat in an age of incomplete or downright technically incompetent games especially Unreal games the fact that it shipped with no updates no bugs no frame time stutter and no shader compilation issues is worth at least an 8.

I'll easily play the first 9 on repeat over playing Hellblade 2. I have to reiterate that if you didn't like the first one you definitely won't like 2, don't make the same mistake I made in thinking otherwise. Well at least I take comfort in that NT is making another game and it probably will be a new ip or perhaps returning to Enslaved?

LAD: Infinite Wealth completely deserves that spot. Amazing game from beginning to end.
Crazy how the second RPG from the guys at RGG Studios is number 1 and the 27286288th RPG from Atlus is number 6. I guess there wasn't much that could be done with P3.

Prince of Persia is also an amazing game. One of the best Metroidvanias I've ever played.
Really sad that most people won't even give it a chance because "uBiSoFt bAd". But it's an stellar, spectacularly polished game.

Yeah Infinite Wealth is my no.1 this year so far, such an awesome game with an excellent story & gameplay to match. Its rare that a game exceeds my expectations, but this one did.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is on sale now. Definitely thinking about picking it up since I also enjoy the previous entries.

The obvious take is that Hellblade is the only exclusive in this list, but interestingly if you run the same experiment for PS5 they only have two exclusives (and one of those is TLoU remake). In fact the PS5 list even includes Hi-Fi Rush!

The Switch list also has only one exclusive and is actually topped by Pentiment!

So fair to say for this year so far Xbox is doing on average at least as well as any other. In fact looking at the release schedule for all three I fully expect Xbox to end the year on top, which would be quite the turnaround.

Have to say hellblade 2 is absolutely stunning looking can't get over how well it performed on series s only played a little bit but how the game looks deserves some credit especially on series s just set the display to 720p so you don't lose out on as many pixels it sharpens up the visuals

I had no idea Infinite Wealth was that high. Loved the first Like A Dragon game so I might have to pick this up down the line, even though I think it's wack they put NG+ behind the DLC.

My take on Hellblade 2 - regarding the Puzzles/Combat (game-play aspects). People are saying this is where it fails.

If I compare HB1 to HB2, its clearly a MASSIVE leap up in Visuals, in Audio, in Animations etc and potentially far more accessible too. You can see where the money went compared to the First.

I would imagine that many never finished Hellblade - either because the Puzzles were frustrating, the Combat annoying or even the 'Despair' making it 'tough' to keep playing. Being attacked/killed by an unseen enemy behind you over and over again maybe 'off putting' so they never finished the Story - now they still fight the same number of Enemies, but only ever face 1 at a time. Puzzles too maybe more of the same and/or easier, but Senua is more experienced from a Narrative perspective so maybe are easier.

All of which means that we have the essence of HB1 but now more accessible and significantly advanced in numerous Areas (inc Performances of Melina) to tell a more 'interactive' story than a Movie does. The 'interaction' may not be super difficult/complex etc but that can interrupt and even stop people from reaching the end of the Story...

Not everyone wants extremely complicated or very difficult Combat, Puzzles etc but its part of the setting, the story and/or impacts Senuas Psychosis. The Puzzle or Combat isn't as important as the 'voices' in Senuas head.

Of course, some will say the Combat or Puzzles should be the Focus of a 'Game', but Ninja Theory may have thought these were more about the Voices, the negative/positive back and forth is more important than the Activity and how those activities impact on her Psychosis.

Hellblade 2- If you loved the first one, you will love the second one. It's not for everyone. I love story based games like A Plague Tale, Alan Wake, Bramble, Brothers, etc. and so Hellblade 2 is right up my alley. But love it or hate it, you absolutely cannot deny Hellblade 2 is one of the best looking games ever made.

I just beat the first Hellblade game and I loved it. Honestly, I didn't expect it and that's why I had not played it before. Time for the sequel, then.

Being reviewed bombed by Sony fanboys on Metacritic, they must be bored waiting for Sony to release an actual current gen First Party AAA title.

The good news is it's 4.1/5 and rising on the Xbox console reviews which is the one that counts, as its scored only by people who actually have access to the game.
