Sony Veteran Becomes Xbox's New Director Of Partnerships In Japan

Back in December of last year, we noted how Xbox was looking for a "Director of Japan Game Creator Partnerships", and it looks like that role has now been filled by former Sony executive Mena Sato Kato.

Sony Interactive Entertainment's ex-vice president of mobile business took to LinkedIn earlier this week to share the news, describing her new title as "Director for Partnerships Japan at Xbox". Here's what she had to say in full:

"Excited to say I've joined Microsoft as Director for Partnerships Japan at Xbox. I will be leading partnership efforts to support our Japanese partners globally. Opening up a new chapter, unlocking new experiences in the game industry."

Mena Sato Kato also mentioned in her message that she'll be attending Tokyo Game Show in late September, and as usual, we're expecting Xbox to have a pretty big presence at the event in a few weeks' time.

All of this follows some recent comments from Xbox boss Phil Spencer where he praised Team Xbox for the "progress we've made" in Japan in recent years, while also pointing out that "there's obviously more work for us to do".
