Marvel's Avengers Is Ending Support And Being Delisted This September

The time has come! It's been announced today that Marvel's Avengers is officially ending development and support on September 30th, 2023, and the game is even getting delisted on Xbox and all other platforms after that date.

An official blog post reveals that the decision to end support for Marvel's Avengers was "made in conjunction with our partners", calling it the "right time to make this change".

In the meantime, all Marketplace, Challenge Card, and Shipment cosmetic content will be given away to players for free starting March 31st, and Credits will no longer be purchasable from that date.

"We know this is disappointing news as everyone in our community has such a connection to these characters and their stories. We’re so, so grateful that you came on this adventure with us."

"Gifting the full library of Marketplace cosmetic content is a way to thank our community by letting everyone experience the breadth and depth of content in Marvel’s Avengers."

For those who are wondering, it's been confirmed that both solo and multiplayer content will continue to be available even after September 30th, although the blog post advises that issues may occur in the future.

"The changes we are making to how the game functions will ensure as long a life as possible. However, after September 30, 2023 we can’t guarantee that we will be able to address issues that occur due to unforeseen circumstances."

"The game will remain available for purchase digitally between March 31, 2023 and September 30, 2023 and at retail while supplies last. No new digital purchases of the game will be available after September 30, 2023."

It's the end of an era, then, for a game that has admittedly suffered a rocky reception over the past couple of years. Still, we at least recommend giving it a try for the campaign alone, and don't forget that you've got until the end of September to play it with Xbox Game Pass, after which time it looks set to be removed from the library.
