Melee-focused battle royale Naraka: Bladepoint hit Xbox Series X and S back in June, with an Xbox One version also set to arrive later this year. We haven't chance to properly check this one out yet (the battle royale fatigue is real), but the announcement of a free co-op campaign has us intrigued.

The 'Showdown' campaign goes live in Naraka: Bladepoint today, August 5th, and it's all included with Xbox Game Pass. Going off what's been said so far, this sort of sounds like a Horde mode, set across two stages.

"Taking the exhilarating combat from the popular battle royale mode, players can take on the challenge in teams of three (trios) in this new mode. Across two stages, players will be pitted against a variety of challenges of varying difficulties as ferocious enemies surround and attack them. As the difficulty ramps up, trios will need to communicate and collaborate to survive and emerge victorious."

The mode sounds interesting enough, even if it's not a proper 'story campaign' as such. It should provide a nice alternative to the battle royale mode anyway, for players who prefer a more PvE-based experience.

Will you giving this co-op campaign mode a go on Xbox Game Pass? Let us know in the comments!
