It's fair to say we're very excited about Monkey Island returning to Xbox, but unfortunately we might be waiting quite a while, as it's been confirmed that Return to Monkey Island will be a Nintendo Switch console launch exclusive.
This was announced as part of today's Nintendo Mini Direct, with publisher Devolver Digital stating that Return to Monkey Island will be coming to PC and Nintendo Switch in 2022, but with no further details about Xbox or PlayStation:
Sadly, it looks like that means we'll be waiting until 2023 for Return to Monkey Island on Xbox, which is a definite blow considering the game is the long-awaited follow up to Monkey Island 2 with development led by Ron Gilbert.
Maybe we'll get some more details on Xbox soon, but for now, it's looking like PC and Switch only this year.

The Switch has been a very well supported console for Indies for a long time. And it stands to reason the development team didn't want to make 4 versions at once. I'm thankful it's coming to console at all at launch. It'll be on Xbox 6-12 months after launch anyway. Either way it's going to be a must play.

Wonder what on earth is going on with Goldeneye? We knows it’s a thing. If it’s not been dropped at summer game fest, Xbox summer showcase or Nintendo direct then when? 🤔
