Gotham Knights Last-Gen Versions Have Been Cancelled

I’m glad it’s only for current gen. consoles. I’m ready for that to finally happen and we can have developers focus is on the power of the consoles and getting the most out of them without wasting resources for last gen. consoles.

As for Gotham Knights in general; it looks pretty good, although the combat does seem relatively janky, particularly with Red Hood. His gameplay portion seems similar to Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy - a fantastic game with serviceable combat.

Hopefully, this game is good and has a great story because it would be amazing to play this cooperatively with friends.

Fine by me, it's past due for publishers to really support the current MS and Sony consoles.

Makes sense, while the Series X may still not be available in a lot of places, the Series S is and it's cheap enough to upgrade to. It'll happen a lot more often now I imagine

I'm glad of this too many games have been held back from there full potential with cross gen support, it's not that hard to get a series X just got one today already had a s but don't what it is this gen with Sony my ps5 wasn't doing it for me and been Sony guy since PS1.

That sucks for the ones who weren't able to upgrade..

About time that 9yr Old hardware is 'too dated' to run the latest software at a reasonable level - I'd argue that some releases weren't reasonable already but still released for the sole purpose of money over delivering an 'adequate' Gaming experience.

Yes you can scale things down to 'run' in some way - Just not with a consistent frame rate or decent visual presentation - even on HD TVs (let alone 4k)

Of course I expect lot of gamers to come in here and cry about last gen support. I get it. I do. But it's time to move on.

Certainly "it's all about choice/options argument" will come up. I get that too. Especially the cross gen/cross platform thing.

What I'd rather see is an option for finding a group via matchmaking that states, "find a group that to not speed run and allow you to read/listen to dialog/story".

How many times have you tried play a game and wanted to enjoy it. But randoms just fly thru and ruin the experience for you? A lot and often for me at least.

I am extremely impressed with this comment section. I thought i was going to be in the minority with saying the same things as all of you. Last gen is fine for those who want to keep them, but games need to be made specifically for the new gen going forward.

I think the Xbox ecosystem could have done this sooner. With cloud streaming now on Xbox Ones, their first party studios should be concentrating on Series consoles only.

It would definitely sell more GPU subs for those who don't have the current gen. Even if it was just one month subs so people can play the latest game.

Does it use unreal 5 that could explain it, maybe last gen consoles just can't run it that great

wow so many rude people in the comments. Majority of people do not have the new next generation consoles only RICH PEOPLE DO because of scalpers and bots selling them at a price rich people can afford, and because consoles being out of stock constantly because of bots and scalpers.

While I agree still problems with getting a ps5 the series X is pretty easy if you shop around to get one , I managed to get one quite easily within last couple of days with looking around and wasn't scalper price and from knowing retailer and should be no problem at all to get a series S.

They may not be rude to u but to people who can't get the new gen consoles because they not rich and don't have money to buy from a scalper or a bot like on EBAY. For your info I havea next Gen Console so this doesn't affect me but it sad to see alot of gamers on the net saying who the heck cares about last gen and thx god. It rude in my personal opinion when the majority are still with last gen consoles, because of scalpers and bots keep the consoles constantly out of stock and at a price that is too high to buy unless u are RICH.

an yet i have the X and S, PS5, hell i even got the switch when that was impossible to find as well a good four or five years ago.

did i buy them from a scalper? absolutely not.

did my friends buy any of theirs from a scalper? no. no they didn't.
they watched for drops. they stayed on top of it. until they finally got one.
even my brother, who has next to no motivation to do that, has both a series X and S. he started with the series S and then got jealous both of his older brother's got a series X. He had his own series X within two weeks.

do not confuse effort with a fat wallet.

Agree I'm far from being rich and like you just getting along. Find it a little insulting they keep calling people rich all it takes is a little time and common sense to get a next gen console , ok can see problems with the ps5

@suikoden They really aren't. In the US its pretty much the same. You can walk in to basically any store and get a Series S and a Switch. The entire xbox spot are filled up with S every delivery and the PS spot is filled up with PS gear. like ps5 headsets or controllers.

Walmart had a very extended amount of inventory awhile back. That was the most we saw at once. Its back to paying attention to drops again for most people. They get announced every week to two weeks usually by some retailers.

oh. the ps5 is just about non existent. I really don't see announced drops of those lately.

Hope they stop developing for series S aswell because it holds series X back 🙃

@suikoden I think what be means is people seem to not think of money as an issue when it comes to upgrading to the latest console it's always just about supply but their are people that genuinely can't afford a new console I know I can't , people can say 'well you can stream these games with xcloud' but their are lots of people that don't have a good enough internet connection

@Wolfster I’m not rich. I’m as blue collar as it gets. But I was still able to trade in 2 Xbox One consoles and purchase two Series S consoles to get my kiddo and myself both in the door on current gen. Didn’t come out of pocket and was able to snap up all the groceries, like charge and play kits and an extra controller. Think I may have paid a bit for the controller, but it was a drop in the bucket after that kind of trade.
This was during the height of the pandemic or shortly thereafter when people were seriously hurting for consoles, even the last Gen ones, so it was a ripe time to trade.
Maybe you just need to learn how to hustle. Or check the trade values page on GameStop dot com. Using this rich argument is a big cop-out.

A year and change into this generation, I think that despite the difficulty getting the new systems to players, I think this will probably start to happen more. Developers will begin to want to focus on one build of their games, and while a lot of people think that last-gen versions of games hold back the current generation version, it actually seems to be the other way around.

Some celebrate this as if this meant the game was better.

I see it the entire other way around: they likely have been having a terrible time making the game run smoothly, and we might end up getting a Cyberpunk like scenario (a game that is obviously still last gen but can only run decently in XSX|PS5.)
