EA has confirmed today that beloved developer Respawn (Apex Legends, Titanfall) is working on three new games in the Star Wars universe, including a much-anticipated sequel to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Let's start with that one. EA says the team is actively working on the next Star Wars Jedi title as we speak, and it's being led by Game Director Stig Asmussen, who was also Game Director on the first game.

Meanwhile, another team is working on a first-person shooter led by Peter Hirschmann, who has worked on a variety of Star Wars projects in the past (including as Executive Producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games) — while the other is a strategy game being developed by newly formed studio Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn.

Here's what Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games had to say about today's announcement:

“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn. They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

Just recently, it was reported that the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order could be releasing as soon as late 2022 (but more likely sometime in 2023), and that it would feature "returning characters from its predecessor, some with larger roles, along with exciting existing Star Wars characters that weren’t featured in the first instalment."
