Halo Co-Creator Joins EA To Build New 'First-Person Shooter' Studio

Halo fans will want to keep a close eye on this one, as the franchise's co-founder Marcus Lehto has announced that he's joining EA to help build a new FPS studio, and he'll be serving as game director on the team.

Lehto announced his new role on Twitter yesterday, accompanied with the following comments:

You might remember that Lehto most recently worked on the FPS Disintegration, which unfortunately didn't prove to be a success and ended up turning off its servers just five months after launch due to poor player numbers.

However, his move to EA marks a fresh start, and we're excited to see what the Halo co-creator and his new team can deliver. Here's what EA had to say in a statement to PC Gamer about Lehto's move to the company:

"We’re opening another new studio near Seattle that is part of the EA Studios organization, reporting into Vince Zampella’s organization. Marcus Lehto will be the studio’s game director, focused on developing first-person shooters. We’ll share additional details on its future at a later date."
