Apart from the recently announced online racing expansion, Microsoft Flight Simulator also has a Top Gun expansion on the way. If you were looking forward to its arrival later this year, we're sorry to say it's now been delayed.

It was planned to coincide with the release of the new movie Top Gun: Maverick, and Paramount Pictures has now announced it will be delaying its entire 2021 film slate due to the pandemic. Maverick will instead arrive next year on Memorial Day weekend in the US, so the game's themed expansion will also be released then.

Here's the official message from the Microsoft Flight Simulator website:

"Paramount Pictures recently shifted the release date of Top Gun: Maverick to Memorial Day weekend, May 27, 2022. As we have previously announced, the Top Gun: Maverick expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator for Windows 10 PC, Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass will be released alongside the movie. We look forward to sharing more information in the future."

Tom Cruise's other movie Mission Impossible 7 is also on the receiving end of Paramount's recent delays. Ouch!

When Flight Simulator's Top Gun expansion eventually lands on Xbox Series X|S and PC it'll be an entirely free update. Are you looking forward to it? Leave a comment down below.
