One of the neatest features of the Xbox Series X and Series S is the ability to use Quick Resume. It's fantastic to have multiple games running at once and being able to freely jump between the batch. While it's a great feature, more and more games seem to be launching without the support — something one Xbox exec has elaborated on.
Jason Ronald, director of project management on Xbox Series X and Series S, was asked why some games are launching without the feature on Twitter. Ronald replied explaining "the team has been putting a lot of effort into hardening Quick Resume", but some games need some "extra validation" before it is enabled.
Fortunately, Ronald added we "shouldn't see a delay for new titles soon".
Obviously, it's not as easy as simply adding the feature, and a lot of factors have to be considered. That being said, it's great to see the team continuing to work on ensuring it's coming to titles closer to launch. Being able to jump from Assassin's Creed Valhalla to Tetris Effect: Connected will never grow old, so we hope the process continues.

Nice! The main thing I'd love to see them fix with Quick Resume is how it is broken with some in-game timers. No idea if it's doable, as I expect the problem is more complicated than it seems at a glance, and probably requires per-game implementation, but it's frustrating having to save and quit some games to prevent the playtime counters ticking up (Lost Odyssey is the main one that springs to mind, but I'm sure I saw it in something else more recent, too).
Was surprised that Judgement didn't support quick resume, I've relied on that quite heavily when working through the other Yakuza games (obviously these are via BC)
Never personally used it. The sdd is fast enough not to bother me
@ResoluteCustoms It’s brilliant when you’re sharing with kids.
@ResoluteCustoms I feel like a hyperactive Ritalin addled child. If I have to wait for just one logo screen at start up I freak out and start mashing all the buttons to make it "go faster" (or take out my aggressions on the controller shaped fidget spinner.) I NEED quick resume. I need to it come to xcloud too.
(Ok why is my autocorrect replacing half of this with x rated words I swear I've never typed? )
I legit don't trust quick resume anymore after the hellblade glitch.......
@The_New_Butler
He would honestly quit the game like i do ever since that terrible Hellblade glitch with quick resume. I love the idea of it but if their are glitches like that one i will never use it haha.
@The_New_Butler
The thing is there are other problems with quick resume not just it not working. Hellblade is the perfect example. I used quick resume and loved it with that game and then i found out all my achievements weren't popping DUE to Quick resume. I love the idea of it but it can also create problems.
I really appreciate quick resume for games like WD Legion with its lengthy load times.
@SteveButler2210 Indeed. My Dragon Quest 11 playtime says like 450 hours now. 😂
Quick Resume was one feature I looked forward to, but in the end, I didn't use it because of its unique quirks in some games. I decided, it's better to quit every game when I'm done for the day and start it fresh the next time around. This way I circumvent any trouble that would ultimately lead to an actually longer start up time.
Good idea, problematic implementation. Hopefully future games take it into consideration during the development process.
