We've got a release date for FIFA 22! The game will officially be arriving on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on October 1, with a brand-new form of gameplay technology debuting exclusively for next-gen consoles.
It's called 'HyperMotion', and is described as "elevating every moment on the pitch", utilising advanced 11v11 match capture and machine learning to improve tactical AI, kinetic air battles, composed ball control, player humanisation and more, made possible by Xsens suits allowing for an "unprecedented volume of high-quality real-human movement data."
A press release has also revealed that goalkeepers will be getting a complete system rebuild this year, Career Mode will feature an all-new Create a Club experience, VOLTA Football will be benefiting from "reimagined gameplay", and FIFA Ultimate Team Heroes will "represent the stories and glory of cult players and fan favourites."
FIFA 22 is still coming out for Xbox One as well, of course, but without the HyperMotion technology, and is being priced at £59.99 / $59.99 as a result, with the Xbox Series X and Series S versions being priced at £69.99 / $69.99. If you're an EA Play or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, you can get a 10% digital discount as well.
- FIFA 22 Xbox One - £59.99 / $59.99
- FIFA 22 Xbox Series X, Series S - £69.99 / $69.99
- FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition - £89.99 / $89.99 (access to all versions)
Powered by Football™, EA SPORTS™ FIFA 22 on Xbox Series X|S moves the game forward with the groundbreaking next-gen HyperMotion technology that elevates every moment on the pitch.

It's not just the same game they release every year promise
I don't see the XB1 version being "slighty reduced" at £59.99. It's more that the XSX version is being pushed up to £69.99. I wont be buying this year
@VOODOO85 Fair point, I've removed that bit
They say the same crap every year
Also £70?
Staff at EA
"Let's come up with a new gimmick so we can basically flog these clowns the same game once again with barely nothing other than squad and kit updates"
"I've got it, let's make up some ***** and call it Hypemotion Technology"
"Err yeah that sounds good , that'll make it sound new and interesting"
EA job done for another 12 months
@The_New_Butler
Ditto! I've only just started playing Fifa 21 😁
@VOODOO85 Yeah... it will be 20 in March
Would usually only buy and play a new Fifa game every 5 years or so but I've played 19, 20 and 21... on gamepass. I'll happily wait for this as I've got no interest in ultimate team or online multiplayer.
"Corporate wants you to find the difference between Fifa 21 and Fifa 22"
"They're the same picture"
Never played a FIFA before, will easily wait until this is free with the ultimate pass.
As for the reveal trailer it seems to be fantastic at motion capturing for the the CGI movie intro, but as for actual gameplay I'm not so sure how they use it...
Stick it up their backside.
I'll be skipping it this year.
Not paying £70 for an annual game.
Finally my goaty. The trailer has a certain galactic football feel to it.
Change a single line of code, give it a new name ("HyperMotion"), and voila! A 'new' FIFA game.
