Team Ninja, the team behind the brutally difficult Ninja Gaiden series, are sprinkling some of their magic into Final Fantasy. Their upcoming title, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, is heading to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S sometime next year.
The reveal trailer showcases the fast paced combat the team is known for. Instead of adopting the turn-based approach of past Final Fantasy entries, the new entry is going all-in with its visceral hack-and-slash combat and it's looking mighty impressive. We can't wait to hear more.
With the memory of their struggle buried deep in their hearts...
Jack and his allies, Ash and Jed, burn with resolve to defeat Chaos as they throw open the gates to the Chaos Shrine. Yet doubts remain—are they truly the Warriors of Light the prophecy foretold?
Step into a world of dark fantasy and revel in the exhilarating, action-packed battles!
In recent years the team has been focused on the Nioh series, which has only appeared on PlayStation and PC. It's great to see the developer return to Xbox for a new entry - especially one that's Final Fantasy related. It looks like it could be the Dark Souls x Final Fantasy game we never knew we wanted.

CHAOS. 😂 I was laughing by the end of the trailer. Pretty awful imo.
I am glad that this is not a PS5 exclusive, but Is it just me or FF characters are becoming devaluated with each new entry? When the fist dissidia was announced I was jumping of my seat with excitment. Nowadays its like “Oh… another FF spin off, cool I guess” they should learn from Nintendo a be more protective of their IP
@Fenbops what do you mean? I mean the gameplay looked Chaos. Team Ninja developing I have faith it will actually launch Chaos. The characters were Chaos. And of course…. I must hunt Chaos. Chaos chaos chaos.
@mousieone please stop 🤣
Look I get Chaos is the counterpart to Cosmos in FF lore but seriously they said it so many times lol
May get this if it turns out well.
Glad the rumors of this being yet another Sony paid-off hostage situation wasn’t true after all.
@AlienigenX not sure what you talking about. I dare bet if we ran a tally, we would find more terrible Mario and Pokemon spin-offs than final fantasy ones.
@Tharsman c’mon man! I love FF, It’s one of my favorite franchises ever, and I will
Surely play this one. (The main reason I am happy that is not a PS5 exclusive is because I only could afford a series S) having said that you, can’t deny that with all the mobile crap Squeenix is dropping recently FF characters are a bit devaluated (all the bravest I’m looking at you) I miss the days when Cloud Being in Ergheiz was a reason to celebrate.
@Fenbops no you mean the chaos must be stopped lol
They didn’t need the dialogue for that trailer it hurt it….
@AlienigenX Mario Kart Tour and Doctor Mario World do the same, though. Just saying you are comparing to Nintendo, whom is doing the same thing.
All I heard was CHAOS and death threats against CHAOS.
I don’t drink but I think someone would end up in the hospital if playing a drinking game with this trailer.
