The third-party video game giant Electronic Arts is reportedly the latest victim of a major cyber attack.
According to VICE Motherboard, hackers have managed to obtain source code and related tools used in the company's games. It's alleged 780GB of data has been taken from EA. This includes Frostbite source code which powers series like FIFA and Battlefield.
The hackers are aiming to sell the data, and claim they have "full capability of exploiting" all of EA's services.
An EA spokesperson has confirmed the following with Motherboard:
"We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen"
Player data has apparently not been compromised, according to the same spokesperson. And EA is now actively working with law enforcement officials as part of an ongoing criminal investigation. It's also already made some security improvements.
If there are any developments, we'll be sure to let you know.

Did Battlefield 2042 piss off people that much? ๐ฌ
So thatโs where the single play campaign code went for battlefield. ๐
Seriously, not good bad people.
It seems to be the season for hackers of late. Little s****. Someone posted 8 billion passwords on a hacker forum the other day this week. I suggest you all check if yours have been breached.
I wonder if this will mean we get info on jedi fallen order 2?
Secondly thank you for this article. I just changed my password XD.
Someone wasn't happy that the new Battlefield game is multiplayer only.
Whaaat??? Only 780GB? Amateurs...
It should have been AT LEAST double that amount, and EA deserves all of it, with all of their annoying rehashes and so-called 'surprise' mechanics.
780gb? Wow, thatโs even more than a PS5โs usable SSD storage ๐
It's hard to feel bad for EA. They're such a rotten company.
Why are we referring to EA as third party ๐
You guys got some insider information?!?
I'd feel bad for them if they're business practices weren't so disgusting
