Today's Age of Empires Fan Preview event has just wrapped, giving us a first proper look at Age of Empires 4's gameplay (amongst other things), as well as an official release window for the game - this Fall.
As you can see from the trailer above, the gameplay looks really, really good, and we're looking forward to getting our hands on it when it arrives on the Windows Store, Steam and of course, Xbox Game Pass for PC. If you can't wait that long, eager fans can get access to an upcoming closed beta by signing up to the Age Insider program.
Sadly, there's no sign of a console version in the works for Age of Empires 4 at present.
"One of the best-selling real-time strategy games returns in glory with Age of Empires IV, putting you at the center of epic historical battles that shaped the modern world.
Make History Your Story in Age of Empires IV coming Fall 2021 on Xbox Game Pass for PC, Windows Store, and Steam."
Looking forward to this? Sad about the lack of a console version? Let us know in the comments.

I think its a real problem when Xbox Game Studios does this. First was gears tactics, than Flight Simulator and Now AoE4, this is starting to piss me off to be honest. Its Xbox Game Studios, not Windows Game Studios. Every Game XGS release should be on Xbox Day 1, not PC only.
Can someone help me I'm having issues with my account when I try to play Xbox 360 games & Xbox support are no help at all
Damn shame. This would be an insta-buy for me. My PC is bordering on becoming ancient, so that's just not an option for me, seeing as I don't have the funds to upgrade the PC, much less buy a new one, so having the option to buy just the game on Xbox would be the perfect solution for me.
Here's hoping that it'll be added later on.

What's up exactly?
@Dezzy I can't download my profile it starts to do it then says there's a problem with your credentials
I’ve never been a PC gamer, so am gutted a console version wasn’t announced. Fingers crossed it will materialise at some point 🤞
This is why it's best to have both a Xbox & PC and all those comments saying that is a silly combination were wrong.
Considering how light the first party slate looks for Xbox this year, I'm bemused how they haven't ensured this had an Xbox port day one.
I understand that RTS is traditionally a PC genre, but they could have at least done a 'preview' version where you could only use KB&M and then updated to a 'retail' release 6 months later with controller support.
@Would_you_kindly
Download what profile? Are you talking about transfering from an old console to a new, or something?
@Dezzy , you have to download your account to play Xbox 360 games on it
@Would_you_kindly
I'm not sure what you mean. What console are you on? On both the Xbox One and Series S/X, you play 360 games by either inserting a disc and then downloading the "patch", or just buying them on the store digitally.
It's disappointing that an Xbox game studios title isn't coming to an Xbox console the same time as PC. Regardless of the perceived audience, those who own an Xbox might not want or be able to afford a PC. If you do have a pc you are probably just better off getting a PS5 to avoid overlap
Shame shame. Would have bought this for Series X no question.
@SegataSanshiro
you could say the same about console games which comes day and date on pc too.
They all could come earlier to console if the focus first on console, why should it be different for historically pc games?
Amazing looking game! Day one buy from me.
I only hope they polish the game more, like the arrows and characters. The buildings and surroundings look stunning.
Looking forward to this!
