Microsoft has officially announced all four Xbox Games With Gold titles for April 2021! These games are available to download for free for Xbox Live Gold members (including subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate).
Here's the complete list of titles you can look forward to in April:
Xbox Series X / Xbox One
Vikings: Wolves of Midgard (April 1 - 30):
The Action RPG Vikings – Wolves of Midgard takes you to the Shores of Midgard, a world based upon the mythology and history of the Vikings, but with a fantasy twist. Battle the fearsome Jotan, hordes of terrifying undead monstrosities and the beasts of Ragnarok, as you strive to survive the growing cold that threatens to end all life, forever. Master mighty weapons, and earn blood in battle to offer in tribute to the Gods to enhance your powers.
Truck Racing Championship (April 16 - May 15)
The only official simulation that features all the unique characteristics of the ETRC and offers all racing fans a completely new driving experience: race a giant 5-tonne, 1,000-horsepower truck against 12 competitors while respecting the race rules to avoid penalties.
Xbox 360 / Original Xbox
Dark Void (April 1 - 15):

Hard Corps: Uprising (April 16 - 30):
Thrilling retro run-and-gun action is back with a vengeance in Hard Corps: Uprising, a 2D side-scroller developed by ARC System Works that pays homage to classic Konami action series. Battle in the grueling trenches of Arcade mode, or the all-new Rising mode, where a point system allows you to purchase items and upgrades to help you achieve ultimate victory. Partner with a friend to lay down some serious carnage.

Another bad month for Gold.
I actually heard good things about Vikings. Might check it out. I've never played Dark Void and I'm a sucker for anything from the X360 era.
Seems like the only good game here is Dark Void. Dunno, never heard of it before but old capcom games tend to be gem for me.
MS always put good stuffs on GP. They really need to step up GwG and maybe learn from PS+ a bit.

I'm claiming all of them and I'll see what i played at some point. I've actually been enjoying the Lama destruction or whatever it's called from March.
I know it’s not comparable to PS+, but this is why I look at GamePass and not care about GWG any more.
I mean GP crushes PS Now. Just these past few weeks - Octopath Traveler, Narita Boy, Yakuza 6 and Outriders. I have something new to play almost every week let alone every month.
Hard Corps uprising looks like it could be a fun Contra like game but that's about it
Don't sleep on Hard Corps Uprising people, it's an absolute gem of a shooter!

I swear that Microsoft is doing it on purpose at this point; pummel Gold members into submission with less than stellar games until they give in and just get GP Ultimate. 😂
Not a great selection, but Hard Corps freaking rules so it's worth it for that. I always say if one of the choices are good, I won't complain, and that game is GREAT.
@Medic_Alert Honestly since MS introduced Gamepass GwG have been crap. The two service contradict each other to be honest. I think the only reason they keep it around is for people who don't have Ultimate and would cry about not getting free games anymore if they were to get rid of GwG.
@LX_FENIX Well it is part of the Contra series, it's a sequel to the Genesis game Contra: Hard Corps.
If you’re after a different - and somewhat niche - racing experience I recommend giving Truck racing a go. I have it on PS4 and it’s pretty good. Not great graphically, but has some nice touches like having to cool your brakes with water.
@Medic_Alert Right and as I said they can tell the people with GwG well you still are getting free games.
If MS didn't have a Backwards compatibility system in place I could see them offer older Xbox/ Xbox 360 games for free like Nintendo does with there online service but the do so there is no real point to GwG.
And yet, there are people who claim Cyberpunk 2077 was/is horrible......I give up on GWG....a simply useless concept
I just don't understand why Games With Gold is even a thing anymore. It's mindboggling to be that this service still excites..
Just take it out back behind the barn and shoot it..
Hard Corps Uprising is great, I picked it up a few months ago. Truck racing looks like it could be fun.
I own only one of them (Dark Void.) Not too bad.
The only reason I still have Gold is that it comes with Ultimate.
The last GwG game I actually played was Styx: Shards of Darkness from January 2020. Granted there has been the odd decent title since then but I already own them.
Every month seems like they are scraping the barrel further.
I'm playing less and less on my Potato PC and don't play online, so if streaming (particularly to iOS and Surface) doesn't pay off I will just switch back to Game Pass standard at this rate, it doesn't currently offer me enough to keep Ultimate.
