Seth Schiesel, a former journalist at The New York Times, has joined Xbox as its director of executive communications.
Announcing the news in a tweet, Schiesel revealed he would be transitioning from journalism to join the team over at Xbox. His hope is to “continue to extend the joy and community of gaming to people everywhere”.
Other executives, such as Xbox boss Phil Spencer, have also welcomed Schiesel to the team. Greenberg said he has “admired his work over the years” and is looking forward to bringing his “experience and perspective” to Xbox. Phil Spencer has also been interviewed by Schiesel on previous occasions, and was even teased about the hidden Xbox Series S in Spencer’s home.
We’re looking forward to what Schiesel can bring to the team!

Sooo did this role get created cuz of the Xbox live gold fiasco? Have one central person to review the message before it's released? Clearly most of the Xbox team we know, Phill, Greenburg, Major Nelson were all against that decision and the harm it did to all of the Xbox teams hard work over the years.
@Krzzystuff What I'd like to know is who approved and pushed that plan. If the Xbox leadership was against it, who pushed it to override them? The only one over Phil is Nadella. I doubt Nadella pushed that entirely, he's very hands-off on such things and trusts his department heads (Phil.) So who ran to the presses with a price increase, rolled it into the app (it still showed the increase even after they reversed it!), and implemented a whole policy either against Phil's wishes or without Phil knowing about it at all?! It totally contradicted everything he's been saying for months and made him look the fool.
