Senua's Saga: Hellblade II was one of the first Xbox Series X games we heard about, way back in 2019 during the console's initial reveal. Ninja Theory has today shared a new look at the game and it's absolutely stunning.
A new screenshot has been shared by the developer which acts as a "cinematic lighting experiment" for the game. It showcases titular character Senua alongside some truly mesmerising lighting effects that the Xbox Series X|S will hopefully play host to. It's already been confirmed the game will be running on Unreal Engine 5 and it seems - at least by this screenshot - that graphical power is paying off.
News of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II has been fairly quiet since the visceral reveal trailer, but hopefully this year brings some new drops of content, and maybe even a release date...?

Cinematic Lighting Experiment? Yeah it looks great, but so does my left foot in a static shot. I'm not calling anything absolutely stunning until I see it in motion.
@DrEagleG Well for reference Halo Infinite somehow looked very bad also in static screenshots back in June. (No hate towards the game just saying that things can/do look very rough in development)
So it is worth something.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Hellblade but it did look amazing graphically. This is just a screenshot but it’s stunning, looking forward to what they’re gonna pull of for number 2.
I'm so ready for this! One of my most anticipated games this gen so far, and I only just played Hellblade for the first time after picking up my Series X. Hopefully they expand the game play as much as they have the graphics.
@Medic_Alert The disappointment when they went from that stunning reveal "trailer" at TGA 2019 to a "Developer expedition diary" of Iceland almost a year later and now a shot of a "lighting experiment" another 6 months later.
This isn't anytime soon, sadly.
Of course I want them to take all the time they need, just wished they never announced it so early. And like the Halo Slipspace engine trailer I wish they would stay away from these "target render" videos that just overhype the visuals and incorrectly set expectations. (I hoped all the industry had learned since Killzone 2)
