Team Ninja has delivered some sad news for Xbox fans, as it's confirmed there are currently no plans for a Ninja Gaiden sequel, nor is the Nioh series in the pipeline to arrive on Xbox, at least anytime soon.
In a recent interview with VGC, series director Fumihiko Yasuda was quizzed on the possibility of a new Ninja Gaiden game in the future, but stated that there are "no plans currently". Despite the bad news, Yasuda added that he has "always wanted to make a new instalment in the series" - so there is that.
Since the spin-off Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, recent titles from the developer on Xbox systems have been scarce. It has instead been working on the Nioh series for PlayStation and other side games such as Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on Nintendo Switch. Yasuda also added that there are no plans to bring the Nioh series to Xbox, despite its upcoming PC launch, but he would "definitely" like to see a new Ninja Gaiden on Xbox:
“There are no current plans for the Nioh series to be on Xbox consoles at this point, but of course the Ninja Gaiden series has had a long history on Microsoft‘s consoles,” he said. “So if there was to be a new title in the Ninja Gaiden series in the future, we’d definitely like that to be on Xbox consoles.”

Well that's a kick in the nuts! I know I'm in the vast minority but I loved Ninja Gaiden 3 and Razor's Edge. NG Black and NG 2 are some of my favourite ever and the combat hasn't aged a day in my eyes. I've owned pretty much every version of each game on all platforms and was really hoping for a new game in the series. A trilogy release with original 3 and Sigma/RE versions included would be a day one preorder for me.

Wouldn't Ninja Gaiden be more associated with Nintendo? Outside of three games, the entire series is on those platforms.

@Link41x I agree to an extent but I think to most modern gamers Ninja Gaiden is a franchise associated with Xbox. I had the original on NES but the modern and past games are completely different things in my mind.
Yea, we all love to have a new Ninja Gaiden. Provided that you do not transform it into an open-world/multiplayer mess (or corrupt it with political correction nonsense). Just a pure Ninja Gaiden. Something like Ninja Gaiden 2 on Xbox360. Don't about exclusivity crap, just give us the game, exclusive or not.
Q) Would you love to see Ninja Gaiden return in the future?
A) Whilst my limited experience of Ninja Gaiden is mixed (I've played Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge and it was pretty good... until the added Ayane stages with bosses so frustrating that the way to beat them is boring and prolonged), I think fans have been without a new entry for a long time and it'd be good to see a new instalment. As far as Team Ninja goes, I'm quite a big fan of the Dead or Alive series but after the disappointing DOA6... yeah, that series should probably have a bit of a break. So having them focus on their other IPs for a bit before returning to make a far better DOA would probably be the best route.
