In case you'd forgotten, Grand Theft Auto V is officially coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in an enhanced form in 2021, as revealed at Sony’s PlayStation 5 digital event back in June of 2020.
We don't know too much about this version so far, but we're expecting many more details will be revealed over the next few months, so we'll keep updating this guide as and when Rockstar decides to let us know more.
Here's a catch-up of everything we know about GTA V for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S so far...
When Is GTA V Coming To Xbox Series X?
There's no specific release date as of yet, but Rockstar has confirmed that it plans to release GTA V for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in the second half of 2021, alongside a new standalone version of GTA Online.
Interestingly, GTA Online will be exclusively free on PlayStation 5 for the first three months after going standalone, so we're assuming it'll then be free on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in the latter part of 2021.
How Will GTA V Be Improved For Xbox Series X?
The only official details that have been provided so far are that the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions "will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever."
There's also a rumour doing the rounds based on newly discovered in-game files that GTA V for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S might use the Red Dead Redemption 2 version of the Rockstar RAGE game engine.
Will There Be Any New Content For Next-Gen?
Yes! In addition to GTA Online going standalone (and presumably free), it will "continue on to the new generation with more new updates including additional GTA Online content exclusive to the new consoles and PC."
Will GTA V For Xbox Series X Use Smart Delivery?
At the moment, it remains to be seen whether Grand Theft Auto V for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will use Xbox Smart Delivery, so we're not yet aware of whether it'll be a free upgrade for existing owners on Xbox One.
When Will Get More News On GTA V For Xbox Series X?
Rockstar has told fans to "stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for details on the upcoming expanded and enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V", so we're assuming we'll find out more details pretty soon.

Wow so.GTA V will now be made for another generation of gaming. Hurry up with GTA VI already.
@Reverandjames My biggest issue with V, is the extremely toxic multiplayer. I haven’t really played the story as I’m not big on it to be honest, but when I tried playing online, everyone was so toxic, cheats being ran left right front centre, and just outright unappealing to play. I hope to whoever is making the next one implements some kind of anti-cheat system or something like VAC.
I'm not played GTAV on a 3rd generation of console. While the online component appears to continually be improved, it didn't hook me early on when I tried it. Sony buying timed exclusivity for an online game that should allow cross platform play further lessens any desire I'd have to go back and try it out now.
I keep hearing about enhancements for the console but what does that mean? Are they bringing it up to PC level? Or, are these enhancements also coming to PC? I started off with the PS4 version and went PC as soon as it was Available. I still play it often online and have always loved it. Now days you do get modders in almost every server but it doesn't matter because you can easily 'glitch' the game into an empty server with only your friends. It's great having the whole map to yourself with your friends. I'm honestly in no hurry for GTA6 to get here. I know it's being worked on and that's good enough for me at the moment. I still have a LOT to do in GTA online and RDR2 online, even after all these years.
They won't offer smart delivery when they can sell the game for a third time? People will buy it to keep it in the charts even longer.
@notleks_ , Give story mode a try, you may find it fun. For online i suggest private lobbies. From a private lobby it is very easy to play with others by joining/starting missions, races and other stuff. There are also tricks to play in a solo public lobby.
How disappointing it is that the only news from R* is about an enhanced version of an enhanced version of a game that was released two gens ago on PS3 and XBOX 360.
